Far Cry 2 to have 16-player online
Said to be like Call of Duty 4.
Far Cry 2 will have a 16-player online mode with persistent rewards and experience levels like Call of Duty 4.
Game designer Patrick Redding spilled the beans to Eurogamer at the UbiDays event in Paris, explaining you'll be able to pick a class to fit your playing style.
He wouldn't offer any further details, but did confirm there will be no online co-op despite the ability to use an NPC “buddy” to revive you and fight with you.
He also revealed the open-world shooter is ever-so-nearly feature complete, and will soon be entering its beta testing phase.
Far Cry 2 is due out this Christmas period on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
Look out for our hands-on impressions very soon.

Could it be the surprise multiplayer experience of the year?
You can't really go to wrong with class systems for getting people all worked up about their rank and dedicating lots of time for their ego to be on show! The Dev's are learning! :]

Sounds like you must be playing Hardcore - select a normal Multiplayer game instead.
Failing that use the Juggernaut perk AND extreme conditioning perk - you might not hit anyone but at least you should be able to run about a bit longer before being killed! lol

I quite like COD4, I like the whole perks system even though on paper it doesn't work (better people get better advantages). Martyrdom is however absolutely horrendous. It is utterly cheap and nasty.
And yes I use it myself.

16 players sounds like a very 'console' thing to do though.

16 players is enough if the maps are well designed and of optimal size.
