Well I came here to be all cynical, but actually that little fire sequence is extremely impressive. If that is an indication of the general attention to detail in the game, maybe it's worth keeping an eye out for after all...

I like the style.

The washed out colours in the landscape shots make it look like a painting. I think this gives it a bit of a distinctive look.

The dynamic weather/physics sound good as well.

so is this using a modded FarCry engine? Cos Ubisoft bought the engine didn't they? Or is it cryengine2?

Does look very nice, well done to the team on establishing a unique look and bringing such great new tech in.

Hardly as visually impressive as Crysis, but they do seem to have found an environment that suits the gameplay of the most successful missions from Far Cry, a goal I believe that they were hoping to move towards. Less apes, more rifle. Crysis seems to be far more close quarters and disorienting forest skirmish. And could someone please shut up the looping audio in that Loki-ad?

Oh, this is not Crysis? Jeez, talk about confusing. It's like coca cola launching a light product under a new na... oh wait!

I didn't expect them to be able differentiate it from Crysis so well. Definitely looks nice. This actually seems to feel like an environment I haven't yet fought a hundred FPS battles in.

Doesn't look as good as Crysis, but it does look interesting - particularly the setting.

It's a savannah, not a dessert.... :P

Nice to see a good looking game set in Africa. I grew up there, and I must say that they seem to have captured the look of a savannah, which is reassuring. I'll probably buy it just for that (and because although I grew up there, I never had the chance to fight hundreds of bad guys with an AK47)

They are proud of that fire FX, and for good reasons.

Bah, my poor 8800 is already worked like a dog on CryEngine 2.0 now Dunia seems it isn't going to give much rest.

>>>so is this using a modded FarCry engine?

Really, it is a brand new engine by themselves. "Only 2 or 3 percent of the original CryENGINE code is being re-used, according to Michiel Verheijdt, Senior Product Manager for Ubisoft Netherlands."

@Burningr - its an arid Afrikan tundra, not a delicious after dinner sweet... :P

What I am really looking forward to is the sandbox style game play.

I will mostly be going on Safari and seeing which exotic animals I can hunt and kill, tracking them through the trodden grass to their lairs, and then setting them on fire.

On a side note, how come Resident Evil 5 is supposed to be racist because its stars a white man, is set in Afrika and naturally features a predominantly black populous to shoot at and kill even though they are zombies, but no one has mentioned diddly squat about the clearly abundant racism portrayed in this game, starring a white man (according to the machete screen shot) is also set in Afrika, with an equally black populous to shoot, stab, explode and set aflame, who are very much alive? double standards I say.

RazorObsession, you're right, he meant desert not dessert. However I think you meant populace, not populous (and what's with the k in Africa?)

I believe RazorObsession is commenting on the dual standards applied to RE5/FC2, not making any kind of racial agenda.

RE5 has been slated for exactly the same things that FC2 hasnt. Or something less word-wrong. ;)
