Bethesda counts down.

Bethesda Softworks will release a teaser trailer for its upcoming role-playing game Fallout 3 next week.

A count-down timer has been running on the official site since the beginning of May, accompanied by a new piece of concept art each week. And the most recent of these is what appears to a wrecked White House with pipes and derelict buildings dominating its immediate surroundings.

Although this will be the third game in post-apocalyptic series, it's also the first Fallout game developed by the award winning Oblivion team. Bethesda bought the license to the series from Interplay in 2004 and hopes it can produce a worthy successor to the two very popular previous instalments from the late '90s.

Little else is known about Fallout 3; which platforms it'll be on or when we can expect a release. However, it's highly unlikely anything other than a preview will be available before the end of the year, and we expect it will show its face on PC, Xbox 360, and PS3.

It looks like we'll just have to wait until 5th June for that teaser trailer, then.

Meh/Bah. Every time I see Fallout 3 I read Flatout 3 and get excited. And then it doesn't and I feel sad.

I hate bloody countdowns for this sort of thing.

In this case in particular, as Fallout 3 is something I could actually rather look forward to (in that "hope it is good, but it can never really meet expectations" kind of way).

Just tell me stuff when you have stuff to tell me. Don't tit about.

Tut tut tut. Eurogamer's knowledge of important American monuments is really unacceptably poor - to the corner with the dunce's hat for you. That is most definitely not the White House - it is the Jefferson memorial in Washington DC.

You know, I really like Flatout, but that has to be the craziest thing I've ever read on here. Unless your reasoning is that you're a total Fallout fanboy and can't muster any excitement for Bethesda's effort, in which case I'd say fair enough.

EGs knowledge of American monuments may be bad, but you'd be surprised how many of the American posters of its official forum thought the Capitol Building in the second piece of concept art was the White House.
