Fallout 3 PC to get patch "later today"

Plus: PS3 Trophies on the way.

Bethesda bigwig Pete Hines has said a patch for the PC version of the game will be released later today.

Speaking in a Eurogamer Live Text article, he said the patch will "address a few PC-specific things that have come up".

"Can't give you any details yet beyond that as far as what else might be in the works for any of the three platforms," Hines added.

However, he did confirm that the PS3 version will feature Trophies in the future. "It's going to happen, just not sure when," said Hines. "We'll let folks know when we have something more definitive."

For more from Hines, including why there are no plans to introduce a multiplayer mode or raise the level cap, read the full interview.

I do enjoy these text chats, but Mr Hines certainly dodged plenty of the questions.

    More non-retroactive trophy patches, yay!

They should've been on disk, trophies have been enabled for three or four months now (not that I really care about them:p).

Yes it seems everyone is slow to implement PS3 trophies, but i guess its the least important thing to implement when your trying to get a game to work properly before release. Hopefully future games (next year) will have them by default rather than waiting for patches.

Still it is nice of companies to add them after the fact (GTA etc)

There is no patch coming out today.

I could certainly do with fewer crashes while playing Fallout 3 on the PC. Crashes aside though, I'm having a fantastic time with the game. I will truly never tire of watching enemies disintegrate from a well-tossed fragmentation grenade. Welcome back, gibby goodness!

    hehe, "well-tossed", hehe.

Strange, I've not had a single crash yet on PC - I have however had a slightly annoying quest-related bug which reminded me of Oblivion - I did everything the quest wanted me to do, but the quest isn't 'completed.' Awesome game though - I encountered a particularly nasty enemy yesterday and almost browned my trousers.

Ah I am sad I cannot play this yet :( Oh well at least by the time i play the PC version some patches would have been out.

Saw it again today and it was looking excellent... I am very jealous of those who are currently playing it

With games this big that don't feature trophies immediately it's a pretty useless feature. I'm not going to do stuff again. Uncharted can be blasted through in a weekend. I could put 80 hours in this, but when that's done, I'll never come back again.

Strange, I've not had a single crash yet on PC -

Neither have I, in 25+ hours.

Getting really annoyed with these post release Trophy support patches. I develop for both 360 and PS3 and know that if the work has already been done in code to support Achievements then its a small job to translate this to Trophy support. Come on developers, I dont want to play a game on release only to start my game again if I want Trophies! Grrr....

    Rant over!

No crashes here yet either, about 8 hours in so far.
  • The_Game_Guy #14 3 years ago

Will wait for patch that fixes overall shiteness.

My game crashes on exit - just like Oblivion - funny they didn't bother to fix that - oh, hang on, they probably thought a modder would, like modders did for so many other Oblivion bugs!
