Well deserved win for Fable 2 imo.
  • bad09 #2 3 years ago

Good luck to 'em. Personally with today's pay I may pick up Fallout, Fable doesn't really interest me.

I need to ask though as I'm curious, why does Eurogamer care what sells in the states?
  • ryohazuki1983 #3 3 years ago

I think its interesting to see whats top of the charts around the world.
  • siro #4 3 years ago

Me too. And for those who don't care: Don't click your way here. :)
  • bad09 #5 3 years ago

    @ ryohazuki1983

Yeah, I suppose so. I don't really think that much about it, the yanks tend to like a lot of what we do anyway, and the Japs, well they've gone mad with their gaming taste IMO, but I guess they've always been a little different! :)
  • ryohazuki1983 #6 3 years ago

Yeah, Japanese charts are a lot different to what i'd expected, LBP & Wii Music hasn't sold well at all. Then GTA topped the chart (i think).

  • mazzl #7 3 years ago

howmuch has fable sold globally? that's what's interesting? do the japs like fable2?
  • Daymare #8 3 years ago

Poor Dead Space:( I want a sequel, damnit!
  • GamerG #9 3 years ago

Poor LBP, less than Saints Row 2 on 360, thought it deserved way more.

I guess Sony's first party line up this holiday has not stood up at all to MS's at least where it counts in terms of money from consumer's pockets!

    What's left Resistance 2 v Gears of War 2?

    Talk about David and Goliath

    @ Daymore

Thats pretty respectable for Dead Space, that game has great word of mouth and will surely sell well over the next few months, its just looks bad because of the competition.
  • menage #11 3 years ago

Great that it's not another shooter or Wii game for once.

There's still room left for different genres.
  • Dizzy #12 3 years ago

    Gz Fable. Well deserved sales.

Dead Space hasn't done badly. I think it will almost certainly hit 1m soon. It is a great game... the only EA game I bought in years I think (except WAR). There will almost certainly be a sequel IMHO. The space horror genre is very rare so...

I'm always chuffed to see a british dev sitting on top of the sales charts irrespective of format. Shame about LBP, it seems to be going the same way as Viva Pinata.
  • Doctor_What #14 3 years ago

I suspect LBP will be a word-of-mouth seller that'll hang around for a long time - probably never toppping the charts, but it'll get a lot of sales overall I think.

    >why does Eurogamer care what sells in the states?

Being a games website, I think it is because Eurogamer's audience might be interested in hearing how well games are selling.
  • schachmatt #16 3 years ago

I just wonder why EG (or the site the're linking to respectively) uses the numbers for one platform this time instead of the usual how much a game soldl across all platforms?
Actually I don't, it's an advertisment like most "news" articles.
  • kangarootoo #17 3 years ago

I've been playing Fable 2 recently, having moved onto it for a break from FO3. I enjoyed both of them, but I found FO3 to be a bit of a grind at times. Its a great game, and maybe its just an issue of packing and scale, but I was starting to find repetition setting in (whereas something like Mass Effect, even though it had repetition up the ass of its side missions, I played right through with barely a pause for thought).

Both great games though. Fable 2 is certainly a more hollow experience, but its mindless hollow FUN all the same.

    @schachmatt

Go somewhere else the if you think it's all ads. I don't go yelling at billboards now do I.
  • Dizzy #19 3 years ago

"I just wonder why EG (or the site the're linking to respectively) uses the numbers for one platform this time instead of the usual how much a game soldl across all platforms? "

NPD (USA) lists like this and charttrak (EU) combines all the sales.
  • Vic #20 3 years ago

Yup, GamerG and the other xbot retards were far too quick to write off LBP seeing as how it came out right at the END of the month.
  • miiiguel #21 3 years ago

oh please, please, don't take me wrong, nor insult..., but let me just post this rant:

I can't believe anyone, deep down, believed that LBP would achieve an Halo, Gears or MGS status. Maybe in another planet/society.
It's a very niche concept, and I'm not arguing about its undeniable quality. In a platform like PS3 or 360 guns will *always* be bigger (and more badass) than dolls.
We can argue the world is wrong, and whatnot, but shit is what it is.
  • Vic #22 3 years ago

LBP will carry on selling as levels are developed and people see what other gamers are doing with it. Most people interested in Gears will have already bought it. Gears wont get many new gamers to buy a 360 which is why MS ripped-off singstar.

Same old Xbots. No guns = niche product!

    Vic,

Even though you share my real name, you are a first class tit and the ABSOLUTE definition of a Fanboy. Grow up.
  • menage #24 3 years ago

Fable 2 has guns as well, so that proves your point.

Also what gamers that don't know how cool LBP is at this point in time are going to buy the game because they'll see what other people are doing with it, you'll need to have the game for that now don't you. Or are we talking youtube gamers here? Confused.

Vic, I think that's an irrelvance. The fanboy disease is in you, you have the irrational and bizarre need to support one corporation against another, for what reason? I don't actually give a fuck, but I thought I'd ask you so you'd ask yourself.

I'VE BEEN REDSPARROWS, A SANCTIMONIOUS ARSE.
  • Vic #27 3 years ago

WTF?! Are you drugs...you sound nearly as fucked-up as Miiiiguel.
  • Vic #28 3 years ago

    @menage

No I'm talking word of mouth people.

Plus, logically I'm sure PSN will be used.

Saints row 2 is an amazing game !

    Very satisfied with it !

Donīt need the gta4 DLC for now !
  • menage #30 3 years ago

I do agree LBP could have legs, it's great.
And it did only sell for a week or so.

I only wish for it that it didn't have the humongous weight of the PS3 entry price attached to it. I still don't think PS3 users are huge game buyers on a whole. Sure gamers on a forum are, but I know a couple of people who bought one for it's HD movie output and only bought FIFA along with it. Nothing else.
  • Vic #31 3 years ago

    But that is totally anecodotal.

Look at the attach rates for the PS3, its over 5.

This idea that only 360 owners buy many games is total bullshit.
  • menage #32 3 years ago

    Not in the states apparantly.
  • Vic #33 3 years ago

  • menage #34 3 years ago

I was talkking about this list, not the attach rates.

Sigh, too tired for this, I always get into some fanboy discussion here, Its Friday, I'm going to have a beer and chill out:p

LBP is the only game I bought for PS3 since Motor Storm (as most games are bought for my 360)...It's all nice and that, but does not appeal to me. Seems like a game you stick in just for a quick fix of harmless causal fun!.
  • TRUTH #38 3 years ago

PS3 is slowly dying. Too much hype - but as a game console - it sucks!
  • cyber_nicco #39 3 years ago

"I suspect LBP will be a word-of-mouth seller that'll hang around for a long time - probably never toppping the charts, but it'll get a lot of sales overall I think."

    Why do you think that?

edit: I'm not saying that that's not what will happen, I'm just wondering why you think it won't sell initially.
