Fable II reveal delayed

Curtains to be drawn Monday 24th.

The big Fable II anouncement mooted last week on the Fable II dev blog has been delayed until Monday the 24th.

The reason given on the latest dev update was that "the big bods over in Redmond" thought the week was probably busy enough, what with all that New Xbox Experience jazz.

This seems reasonable, and a Fable II theme was offered as compensation. But does this stymie suggestions that the update is NXE-related? There were myriad theories, from in-game avatar support to NXE-branded clothing. Perhaps Peter Molyneux will be available as a costume.

Suggestions in the comments thread please. Keep an eye out next Monday for the 'big' reveal.

That's not how you spell announcement!
  • kiroquai #2 3 years ago

Excellent - hopefully it'll be a patch to cure my broken save game!
  • Mildew #3 3 years ago

Gives my 360 another week to come back from being repaired!
  • Eraysor #4 3 years ago

Aren't the curtains being opened rather than drawn?
  • dadrester #5 3 years ago

Perhaps Peter Molyneux will be available as a costume.

He likes xbox-men getting 'into' him.

Hooray for correct usage of the word "myriad". :) Seems EG's writers are qualified after all. >_>

If there is DLC on the horizon I'd happily purchase if there was something worth playing (i.e. new areas and quests). I'm not paying for new clothes/tattoos/weapons, though will happily take those for free! ;D
  • PlugMonkey #8 3 years ago

I'm not paying for new clothes

    I might. \/_\/

Not that I'm not perfectly happy with my crop top jacket, hot pants and thigh boot combo. Is there anybody out there who's character isn't dressed like that?

With an eye-patch, powdered wig and twirly moustache, he looks really quite dapper.

    " in-game avatar support "

...and again. I warned you all. It's the revenge of the Mii's!

The Fable II reveal: that's it's not really very good? :p

My dog is dead so dog armour somewhat useless, as is continuing to put time into the game now he's gone.

What would be the point of any DLC - nobody is still playing this game are they? I put 50 hours in but 40 hours of that were trying to get girl-on-girl sex!
  • darc #12 3 years ago

"I put 50 hours in but 40 hours of that were trying to get girl-on-girl sex!"

50 - 40... That explains my stopping after less than 10, I suppose. Don't you have an internet connection? ;)
  • Garulon #13 3 years ago

Maybe they'll let you restart the last race!

    Oh wait, sorry wrong game.

    "Curtains to be drawn"

They're closing the curtains on this??
  • Thamuhacha #15 3 years ago

Yeah ... going to have to be pretty awesome to make me stop playing fallout 3. I've finished fable and not that keen on a replay.

Still ... you never know. I'll be back on Monday

I think it's going to be some kind of tweak to the co-op, which I really wouldn't be arsed about. In an ideal world, it'd be a brand new area of Albion which is the same size as the entire rest of the world, with a self-contained 5 hour story and ten brand new sidequests.

THAT'D be big news. And would make me a very happy bunny indeed, what with Fable II being my personal game of the year and all.

Wishful thinking? Course. But sometimes wishes can come true.
  • DUFFMAN5 #17 3 years ago

Re outfit. I'm all decked out in Halo orange.
I hope it is more quests ect, but I doubt it.

Yeah. Who could have possibly predicted that.
  • clockworkzombie #19 3 years ago

    @ChrisS

That would be nice. Perhaps a mission to Samarkand to cut off Reavers' head.

An announcement of the delay of an announced announcement... What has the world come to?!

They're announcing Fable II mmorpg which will be launch in June 09. You'll require the original Fable II disk to play along with 4.5GB download and an xbox live gold account. In the meantime an update will be released on 27th Nov fixing various issues (no multiple save though, Peter doesn't think it real-world enough!) and allowing you to use your Fable II character as your NXE avatar. I know this because I've just been fired by lionhead for lying...
  • Bulbatron #22 3 years ago

I hope it is a way to get my dog back, as I made the stupidest choice at the end of the game. If that is what it is, THEN I will go back to playing Fable II.

Perhaps they are going to release a finished game... the one with an ending.
  • smelly #24 3 years ago

    >Perhaps they are going to release a finished game... the one with an ending.

Like with the original fable - where you had to buy the "special edition" to get the full game...
  • Razorus #25 3 years ago

So they give us a theme "for compensation".....at 250 points. Surely, if they want to apologise for a delay to DLC, they should give us the theme for free.
  • MrsPacMan #26 3 years ago

    Free!!

You've had your caXbox fixed for free/
  • TheBard #27 3 years ago

Maybe it'll merely be something to do with the NXE. Fable II clothing for your avatar or something similar.
  • MrsPacMan #28 3 years ago

    Nice idea Bard.

And well done for bringing us down to earth.

It WAS starting to get interesting.
  • Xerx3s #29 3 years ago

A dog to go with your avatar. You heard it here first. ;)
  • shadaik #30 3 years ago

Better be good. NXE was somewhat underwhelming after all that hype surrounding it.
  • j1m.ch053n #31 3 years ago

i hope theyre going to put the sword of aeons in - and not the watered down version from lost chapters - the proper 550 damage sword. perhaps put the healing spell back in.

maybe a proper end of game guardian?

    PvP in the arena?

    armour (please)?

    a minigun?

    "Curtains to be drawn"

They're closing the curtains on this??

    From Cambridge Online Dictionaries:

"draw the curtains to pull curtains so that they are either together or apart"

    So there.

Considering I got the last 2 achievements last night and I found the whole game pretty over-rated the announcement get a big fat "who cares?" from me.
  • bonker #34 3 years ago

"50 - 40... That explains my stopping after less than 10, I suppose. Don't you have an internet connection? ;) "

    I do but what's your point?? :)
  • bonker #35 3 years ago

"Considering I got the last 2 achievements last night and I found the whole game pretty over-rated the announcement get a big fat "who cares?" from me. "

Seriously over-rated. I liked it but it's a generous 8 from me and a 7 at best taking into account the bugs and other technical shortcomings.

Most disappointing of all is the gimped co-op which my mate and I had been looking forward to for ages ...

Having skipped a couple of generations of gaming, I've never witnessed PM's much talked about inability to deliver on what he talks about but I understand it now. Fable II is only 60-70% complete IMO and I don't mean to be rude but it makes me wonder WTF they were all doing for years when you see the final credits and the sheer number of devs on the project - they must have public-sector levels of individual productivity there - life is too comfortable at Lionhead Towers methinks ...
  • Moribundman #36 3 years ago

    Bonker - seconded.

Although not as unhappy as Zeropunct! ;-)
