Fable II: Knothole Island reduced
Cheaper until next Monday.
The world and its dog may be jabbering about Fable III in all sorts of places, but what about you and your dog? Perhaps you fancy running around Fable II's Knothole Island, in which case you'll be pleased to hear it's the subject of a weeklong price-cut.
Previously 800 Microsoft Points (GBP 6.80 / EUR 9.60), the downloadable content pack now goes for 560 MSP on Xbox Live Marketplace, which is GBP 4.76 / EUR 6.72 in old money, and more importantly the same price as its successor, See the Future.
We've not exactly lavished either with praise, noting that Knothole Island was a bit straightforward and expensive, but there's little doubting our affection for all things Fable II. We keep meaning to go back and buy Stephen Fry's house, too - goodness knows how much rent we'll pick up next time we switch it on.
Fable II: Knothole Island will return to its original price point on 6th July.

I do think they'll have to drop the fee eventually, but I don't see that happening for as long as Sony and Nintendo are playing catch up.

Now Castle Fairfax - that's another story. I laughed very hard indeed at the end of the quest you get when you buy that place.

Sony are a little more tasteful, is that why most big demos seem to come with an issue of that magazine thing?

ron_aldo: The only reason why sony doesn't do it is because people would laugh in their faces.
It's a bit late for Sony: you can't really introduce these charges after launch, there'd be uproar.
I had a Gold account for a while then cancelled it as I only used it once or twice, I'm sure as hell not going to subscribe again for a price reduction in a six month (or so) old product.[1]
I have to think that the increasing division between their Gold and Silver "citizens" will just hurt the community/market MS built. They'll phrase it as a bonus or reward for Gold members but Silver members will consider it as a punishment or penalty.
Edit: [1] oh, and I already bought the DLC when it launched.

That is some odd logic you have going on there. You pay extra, to have a discount on something. Personally I would rather they knocked £5 off the cost of a yearly Gold renewal.
Anyway, this DLC was overpriced in the first place (I still bought it, 'cos I am over excitable sometimes).
"And yes, while PSN is free, it's only free for competition sake."
I'm not sure what that means to us as gamers though. I don't much care why PSN is free to use, I just care that it is.

Huuhh?? Which house is Stephen Fry's house? Now I think on it, I didn't even recognise his voice over work. Doh!

I'm over excitable, everytime, lol.
Anyway, I think Live should have online play for free, and then a Premium service, like parties, some demos, (super)discounts and other goodies for Golds.

Gasp!

He was Reaver, the third hero. I don't know if I ever bought his house. I don't remember his diary... have to log on tonight and collect my bazillions of rent and check.
Edit: just to clarify his house was that big mansion in the scummier town.
