Fable 2 Live Arcade titles due in August
Pre-order game to get them free.
Microsoft has decided to release the Fable 2 Pub Games on Live Arcade this August.
You can get these for free by pre-ordering the standard or fancy edition of the game, or by shelling-out 800 Microsoft Points (GBP 6.80 / EUR 9.60) - we're that will get you all three, but it may end up being the cost of each.
The three Fable 2 Pub Games are called Keystonr, Spinnerbox and Fortune's Tower, and are each variation of popular casino pursuits such as roulette and craps, slot machines and press your luck - a sort of pyramid card game.
Most exciting for Fable 2 fans is the ability to carry your winnings into the the role-playing game when it's released later this year. Game designer Peter Molyneux reckons you could start Fable II as a millionaire if you put enough time in.
The Collector's Edition, incidentally, comes with a "Making Of" DVD, a collectable Hobbe figure, some in-game content and a Live trial card to get it with.

Fable 2 is due out exclusively on Xbox 360 this winter.

or is it certain retailers?
Yeah, be good to let us know this crucial piece of information!!
I guess it'll be a case of keeping an eye on retailers' sites and see if they mention it.
It'll be like HMV who gave away M$ points with GTA I should think?
But what's to stop you pre-ordering, downloading the games, then cancelling your preorder???

Money cant mean anything in Fable2 if you can start the game with loads of cash.

Lionhead Studios and Microsoft Game Studios today announced that consumers who pre-order a copy of the Xbox 360™ exclusive, “Fable II,” at participating retailers worldwide, will be given free access to download the “Fable II” Pub Games when they are released this August.
Probably Game will get it I would think, they usually do.

Because it would clearly be impossible to make your winnings meaningless or unavailable early in the game to prevent it from doing so (by - as an example off the top of my head - sticking it in a bank in a location you can't access until later on).

Personally, I'd rather start off in the gutter, but by my second or third play through, I'm sure I'll want things to move along a little more swiftly. And after all, restricting the player from being able to do things, for the sake of balance ruined Oblivion. If I want to start the game as a millionaire, and play through the whole thing with a level 200 buddy, then why not? If I want to, it's not going to ruin the game for ME.
If YOU don't want to, then you don't have to. Seems like a perfectly fine idea to me

On top of that, it's not clear what happens when you buy the pub games and then lose all of your money. Will you in fact start the game with no cash at all, or even debts? You're all assuming you're going to be millionaires from gambling.
And who's to say you have to be poor to be an adventurer? Isn't it more likely that if you are rich you have more free time to be adventuring in the first place?
It would be nice to know who the "participating retailers" are though. Not that I care - I found the original Fable to be really annoying and much preferred Morrowind.
