I'm currently playing the first one among other games... Or better did until I started Lost Odyssey. Was OK so far but not more. Screenshots for this one look very promising though.

With SFIV and RE5 coming out shortly after this the demo better be good.

I loved F.E.A.R., and I'm still not sure I've played anything since with combat that felt so real and dynamic.

Can't wait for the demo...

Do people think it's necessary to play the first one through? One of those ones I meant to pick up but never quite got round to.

Feb is looking like a great month for releases, FEAR 2 could be a surprise hit.

Others might disagree, but I think the story in FEAR is pretty weak so I don't think you'd really miss out by not having played the first.

I can't even really really remember what happened, apart from one reveal at the end which I won't spoil but will probably be mentioned at the beginning of this new game.

From the single review I have read (was in PC Zone) FEAR 2 is apparently not as good as the first, so you might want to pick it up.

Q1 will be an amazing gaming month. Too good for my liking actually because i wont have time for all the games i want to play. Beats Q4 2008 imo.

Well, the demo (via Qore) is quite good, I really liked it. Went from "I'm aware it exists" to "I'll probably get this!"

But then, I loved the demo for the first game and found the full thing to be a massive disappointment :/

Looking forward to trying this demo on my new PC as that is the format I intend buying it for. I'll check out the 360 and PS3 versions too but I'm pretty sure they won't be anywhere near as good and, besides, they'll definitely be more expensive.

Hm, do you know why? Couldn't care less about story, scare factor and environments, as long as the AI is still as good. If they sacrificed that for something else, I am going to kill, er, Retroid. ;)

Cheers, FooAtari. Don't care about the samey environments, as long as the level design is as stellar as in the first one (before anyone complains, level design is not the same as pretty environments), but "far too easy" sounds very strange - the first one was proper hard on, er, hard. :-/

Hmm difficulty is odd. Need some challenge ;(

Environments were pretty dull in first game, but it was great to play through all the same.

Maybe they are referring to "Normal" difficulty.

Overall they say the environments are pretty good, not as samey as the first game, but still a bit repetitive. The combat seems to be just as good from what I remember of the review. (I was reading it in bed, and was half asleep, should probably read it again)
