EyePet sequel on the way this year?

Catmonkey thing to get little brother/sister.

A second instalment in the EyePet series is on the way, according to Gamekyo.

Our new best friend Cyrille from Eurogamer France has done the translation for us. "After enchanting babies (a lot) and adults (a little less), EyePet will return on PlayStation 3 - probably this year," the article says.

"George Fornay (vice president of Sony Europe) made the announcement in a recent interview, saying we can expect the launch of a second episode, which is still a work in progress, soon."

Sony has yet to comment. Zut alors.

Need to sort the crappy camera out first. Frustratingly unplayable for my little one in the evenings without installing a spotlight.

Presumably this will incorporate the wand/arc/gem then.

Agree, I used to enjoy playing Eye of Judgment but in the evenings it became too much of a faff trying to get enough lighting in the room for it to work.

a butler monkey would be good, a real one in the box.

EyePet is a charming game, but it's let down by the camera & motion sensing in low light levels. The game simply doesn't work except in bright natural light. Play at night, especially under CFLs and EyePet is distinctly frustrating.

BTW any potential Natal owners should realise they're probably going to receive a similar experience in non-optimal lighting conditions.

Maybe if they gave the catmonkey a huge penis and a leery grin i'd buy it for comedy value.

Microsoft keep changing the specs for Natal everyday - they've already yanked the image / motion processing hardware so what's next? Natal supposedly has an infrared projector to light up the scene and a monochrome CCD to detect motion but I can see that getting pulled too because of the merry havok active illumination might play with other IR devices in the home.
