EyePet revealed, due out in 2009 News

PlayStation 3 News by Tom Bramwell

20 August, 2008

Sony has introduced EyePet for PS3, a "magical application" in the words of Sony Europe boss David Reeves, which is due out next year.

EyePet allows you to adopt a virtual pet and then stroke and play with them, or draw toys for them to muck about with.

During an on-stage demo during Sony's Games Convention conference, we saw a "monkey-dog thing" (good reporting, Ellie) in action.

Apparently the player drew a car on a bit of paper and the monkey thing coloured it in, and then by pressing a button the PS3 controller it turned into a real car.

They also showed Heavy Rain, though, so you don't have to kill yourself yet.

Hello, I represent the league of Nintendo Fanboys, I'm responding to a claim that Sony are ripping off Nintendo again.

I have observed the news that Sony are releasing a game that seems to want the same market as Nintendogs. The Council of Peach's Order have debated the issue at great lengths, and we have come to the conclusion that it's nothing like Nintendogs - and even if it were, what the hell is it doing on the expensive 'hardcore gamers machine.' We laugh. We have decided to let them off with this one as well.

Thank you for your time and vigilance. Do the Mario!

Wow this might overtake my sisters obsession of Nintendogs on the DS if done right.

Which is bad news for me, because I would be relgated to not playing on my PS3 alot. :(

At least Sony is finally doing something more with their PSeye you'd have thought they'd completely forgotten about the piece of kit.

Seen the video - it looks really shit. And are Sony going to provide the big white table you need in front of your TV? I didn't think so...
