I had bought the X360 CE version and i then rented the PS3 version from gamefly, because while the 360 looks better, i just wanted to make sure.
I compared each using HDMI(PS3 on full rgb..ect) on a 34" Sony XBR960 CRT(a reference model of pq by cnet's standards), and the 360 version was alot more detailed and had a crisp look to the overall pq, that it really is not close which version is superior.
It's amazing how much a small difference becomes _alot_ bigger when you just go from a 19" monitor to a 34" HDTV, and i can imagine this would be even bigger in going to a 50"+ HDTV.
The only plus for the PS3 version is that the textures on a few npc's hair, inside the vault, was more detailed.
Now in every other aspect, from texture quality to draw distance, to crisper picture quality to lighting, the 360 had _a big_ edge.
(out of all the screens, screenshot #12 in this feature, shows this off the best)
Also, the PS3 version once again has an annoying blurry like look to the overall image quality(simular to GTA:IV) and there is a yellow tint to the lighting that is nasty on the eyes.(again simular to GTA:IV).
So when since most here won't be comparing each on there own HDTV, make sure you look at these images in full resolution, and understand that what may seem small on say a 19" monitor, is _alot_ bigger on a 34"..or better yet a 50"+ HDTV.
That article got it right, the PS3 does try to maintain the pc version's look, however it' texture quality/lighting..ect,are all a good deal worse then the 360 version, and _alot_ more worse then the pc version.
From GTA:IV to Fallout to Saint's Row2 to Far Cry2, i have only seen one game that looks better on the PS3, and that was Oblivion.
And i'm thinking that was because of the extra time(1 year) for Bethesta to improve upon it.
I have nothing against the PS3, as i still enjoy R:FOM2 on it and i like the way Home looks more adult then Xbox Live's Wii like Avatar look.
However in terms of cross-platform games i have seen this happen over and over, and now i'm just ordering the 360 version before any game is released, because obviously it almost always has the better version, be it graphics or both graphics and performance wise.

The PS3-shots on the other hand looks much more like the PC-version's does.
