It's odd... I've read plenty of reviews but so far EG's is the only one I could find that thinks this is worse than the original game. In fact most of them make mention of how much they've improved it in almost every area. I suspect this is one I'll have to play myself.

Glad some is free as the paid for stuff for the first one didn't seem worth the money.

Hmmm, sounds cool to have something new every week but at the same time it's obvious from that statement that this DLC has been held back from the disc during development for that purpose which isn't so cool. Sure if it's free that that's not a problem... unless you're a PS3 owner who isn't online, of course. ;)

@JHuxley - Yeah, that statement from EG is puzzling, especially as the game *is* improved over the original. According to most other reviews I read loading times are shorter, there's double the number of tracks, selecting vehicles doesn't take 30 seconds now while you wait for the 3D model to appear, the handling has been refined, the visuals are more varied and there's more detail, etc., etc. Even if only half the tracks are actually fun as EG claim, that still leaves you with a game that improves on its predecessor. At worst it sounds like it is just as good, at best slightly improved but it doesn't sound like it worse. :?

It's only real crime is that it doesn't do anything new, radical or different. I actually wasn't going to buy the game for that reason but I was able to pre-order it from GAME for £32 so it made it tempting. I am weak!

Far too much to play at the moment, so this goes on my post-Christmas buy list along with R2. Maybe.

Then again I did save money getting Valkyria Chronicles for £26 at The Hut. I would spend my saving on getting MS2, but I'm the stingy type who'll now baulk at paying anything over £26 on a pre-order. I have issues.

Eurogamer have been wrong in the past, but rarely have they been THIS wrong. Motorstorm 2 is way, way better than the original. It looks way better, it has like 4x or more of the geometry (I'm sure you could get more exact numbers from the devs), it has way more tracks, the tracks are better, the single player is way better (four ticket paths instead of one, extra challenges to unlock) the online play is better (party features, choose to play in US even if you are in the EU, switch name labels on or off, etc. etc. ), support for SDK features is better (in-game XMB music, trophies, photo mode, etc.), the physics are better, the vehicles are better, the controls are better, it has 2-4 player split-screen ...

The first Motorstorm I played for a bit but got bored with the ticket system, didn't really get into online all that much, and it became a show-off title for visitors, because the motion controls made it so easy to get into for non-gamers, which made a nice combination of playable and accessible with awesome graphics and sound.

But this game, I want to play play play single player mode myself (easily put in 10-15 hours already, almost halfway through the tickets now), I've played a bunch of ranked matches already, and I just can't get enough of the awesome l ooking very varied environments. It's just fantastic. The Rift, that Canyon level, so much good stuff, so much variation, this is the best arcade racer this year easily for me, I like it more than Burnout (even though Burnout clearly is excellent and has different strengths).

I'm not alone in this either. If you see the thread on neogaf, it's full of gushing people who couldn't be happier with the game. :)
