I still can't get into Eve, I really want to because it's got some fantastic concepts and mechanics but the barrier to entry is just too high for me.

hehe yeah unless you already know people who play it before you start its like trying to smash down a brick wall with your forehead.

Its not so much learning how to play the game its new player irritations such as the learning skills that got me when i first started. i actaully left for a couple of months cos of those. It seems like the game is designed so all the most boring stuff happens at the start, which seems like its the wrong way round to me (ie missions/mining and learning skills).

Now im over the learnign curve though i absolutely love the game, it still has a long way to go though before its new player friendly.

Similarly I love reading about this game, but I don't think I'll ever have the time or inclination to actually play it.

ive ben playing eve online for a year love the game play it everyday.all my friends are on there building pos's and blowing up ships.

Is there a niche for the lone pilot, plying his trade between wretched hives of scum and villainy? It sounds so much like an MMO version of Elite, which ruled my young life for quite a long time, but I wouldn't want to join some big corporation. Lone wolf, that'd be for me!

Time for another plug for Eve University I think...

Skillian, Rirekon, and everyone else, give the trial a go and look us up in-game. We've been around for over 4 and a half years now, and do nothing but teach new players and get them over the curve, pretty successfully.
