Nice article, and yeah its true. I did pirating with some other people when my character was less than a week old. We managed to kill faction ships and all. Hell I even got the killing blow on some ships :D

I've been playing this for just over a month now and I haven't yet had the opportunitiy to engage in any PvP. I've been lazily mining asteroids while waiting for my learning skills to finish. Because the game has been running since about 2003 I figured it would be ages before I would be ready to start trying to take on more experienced players while a)my skills are too low b)I haven't got anough ISK to risk losing a ship let alone buy a decent one for combat. and I'm sure fitting a ship for combat would cost a fortune too.

I don't play EVE but I always find articles about it interesting to read. Far more so than articles about other MMOs, especially when a bit of drama involves the loss of "assets" apparently worth a few thousand dollars.

Nice read :) Good points in there too, il be interested to see what mr producer man has to say about the whole speed thing. I do have some speedy ships but flying them always leaves a bad taste in my mouth, like im somehow cheating.

Same here. I guess that really is a compliment to the game.

Been playing EvE on & off for about 4.5 years & I think ive experienced most of whats on offer on the pvp side, from capital fleet battles to one vs one fights in frigates. The buzz you get after a good fight or a narow escape is unmatched in any game ive ever played - i r srs.

Grump - I cant speak for other players, but my PVP ships have never cost lots of money to fit, bacause if your going to use a ship to fight in youve got to consider it lost anyway - if you survive with your ship intact then its a bonus. Also, most decent corps will give new players basic frigs or criusers to pvp in so they dont loose any money. Ive also seen 6 to 8 month old players commanding gangs with years old members - just because they have a flair for leadership.

I do get bored with it from time to time (and im currently having some time off) but when I look back at the experiences ive had ingame, id have to say its one of the best & most original games ever.

My knowledge of EVE after reading the article is as vague as before reading it.
