European GT HD future uncertain News

PlayStation 3 News by Robert Purchese

28 September, 2007

Sony has revealed plans to pull Gran Turismo HD Concept from the Japanese Store, in preparation for Gran Turismo 5 Prologue next month.

This means PS3 owners in Japan have until Sunday to download GT HD, before seeing it disappear forever.

Sony Europe currently has nothing to announced regarding the future of the PSN game here, echoing silence in the US [echoing silence? - Ed].

Gran Turismo HD Concept was released alongside the PS3 here in March. It gives you a feel for what the full fifth instalment in the series will be like when it appears sometime in the future.

We had a great time with it, and thoroughly recommended it to anyone listening. We'd also recommend you get your hands on it while you still can. Better safe than sorry.

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is yet to be dated for Europe, but we still carry a torch for the PSN version turning up here before Christmas and Blu-Ray offering to follow next year.

We'll keep you posted.

Why don't they just take it down when GT5 Prologue is actually available?

They really don't understand the purpose of Demos at Sony.

Shame.

I hope that torch your holding wasn't lit by the same flame as mine for GT on the PSP.

I'd be surprised if MS didn't take down the Madden 07 and Fifa 07 demo's... if they exist.

They've not, to my knowledge, taken down anything as major as this. When I eventually buy a PS3 it would have been nice to download this as an example of what the system is capable of.

Guess I'll just have to buy the PS3 GT5 pack ;-)

No its FREE, and has been stated as such in Famitsu. The demo will debut the Nissan GT-R. Its a marketing campaign along with Nissan.

Shouldn't the article caption read 'Japanese version' instead of 'Japan version'?

I can understand hard copies of games disappearing, as only a certain number of manufactured, and no more will be made if they're not being sold. However, surely one of the main points of having an online 'marketplace' is the ability to retain back catalogue indefinitely, and that includes all demos, videos etc.

I guess the terms and conditions reserve their right to remove anything they like, whenever they like. What if they remove games I've paid for, and then my HDD dies in 3 years time. How will I redownload it?
