European God of War Collection dated

Blu-ray remasters coming end of April.

The God of War Collection has finally been dated for Europe.

UK, Ireland, Germany and Austria get the game on 30th April; Australia and New Zealand get the game on 29th April; and the remaining PAL territories get the game on 28th April.

The God of War Collection contains the Blu-ray remastered versions of God of War I and God of War II. It's brilliant, as our 9/10 review pointed out.

Die-hard fans will have imported from the US already, but Sony's European timing no doubt allows space for God of War III to flex, grimace and impress before fans go in search of their next third-person hack-and-slash fix.

God of War III was released last Friday and impressed critically and commercially - topping the UK All-Formats chart after its first weekend on sale.

Our God of War III review tells all.

About time too! I've been seriously thinking about importing this for months now... But do I wait before I get GOW3?
  • Rufus #4 2 years ago

    @ sneetch

Oh stop being so picky :)

Any plans for a complete trilogy release, WITHOUT the extras and £100 price tag?

    collection priced £25 RRP

    Thanks for that macksed!

    Too late already finished them
  • Darren #10 2 years ago

It's a bit bloody stupid that the UK didn't get this game BEFORE God of War III came out. I know it's part of the Ultimate Collector's Edition but not everyone wants to fork out £110 for a game. Tut... SCEE... honestly... /rolls eyes

I'm glad I imported my copy from the US last year as it gave me ample time to complete both before the third game arrived last Thursday.
  • node #11 2 years ago

Does anyone know if you can import PS2 GoW saves with these HD versions? I'm assuming not, but it'd certainly be nice.
  • HermitUK #12 2 years ago

Foolishly waited on the Europe release of these. Shan't be picking up GoWIII til these are out.
  • Kremlik Verified Co-Founder, Crash To Desktop #13 2 years ago

@Darren - it was purly to try and sell the CE of GoWIII - if they had released the collection when the US had it the CE would be hardly worth h the £110 on release, it'll be more likely 'worth' half - As soon as I saw the CE and price I knew that someone somewhere paied for a delayed release of the collection in the EU

Oh god, this, SSFIV and No More Heroes 2 out on the same day, wallet rape.

Thank god its my birthday! :)
  • Danno #15 2 years ago

Here's the news item I been waitin' for. Glad my patience held, international shipping costs annoy me.
  • Flying_Pig #16 2 years ago

Good news. Better late, than never. I think SCEE would have been better to mimic what SCEA did and release GoW Collection some 3-6 months before GoW to get us all excited.

But at least we're getting it. Now all I need to hear is confirmation of an EU release of Demon's Souls...
  • makeamazing #17 2 years ago

Thats great news, never played GOW before 3, but loving it so much, i want to actually play 1 and 2, so i can see the story unfold. Was just about to order from the US, so will now wait for this (and probably do a second play through of 3 after ive played them)
  • andijames #18 2 years ago

They should of released this before GOW3 but to be honest they've probably done it as they know some people will wait to buy the trilogy and then create another surge of sales on it. Sneaky bastards :)
  • gjgjg #19 2 years ago

'die hard fans'' and people with internet and a c.card
  • AhSoul #20 2 years ago

If I've never played GoW before is it worth waiting for I and II before getting III? Or does it really not matter as there's no real story to speak of? :)
  • M_of_the_sys #21 2 years ago

I with held importing this until last week. Recieved my import copy this morning and then this news pops up... typical.

Still, I'm happy even if my copy has English AND French on the cover...
  • Doctor_What #22 2 years ago

@ AhSoul: GOW1 has a weirdly good story - seriously, I was very impressed with how well they handled it, and it's one of the reasons that I go back to play it occasionally.
  • Jonathan_Fakenham #23 2 years ago

Sweet. Exactly the release I wanted..
Saves me the money from that stupid ultimate box I almost bought.

Late April, that fits better with my schedule too..
  • superfurry #24 2 years ago

Watch the sales numbers for this flop since most people have already imported it and the GOW hype bandwaggon is over.
  • menage #25 2 years ago

Too late, I'd rather play 3 now.
  • sfp_noodle #26 2 years ago

    @ superfurry

i think ur greatly underestimating the significance of this release. sure hardcore gamers, myself included, imported this from the US to avoid the long wait. but there are countless others who simply do not have the time to go through the hassle of it. its alot more convenient to simply walk into a shop and pick up the game u want. also, im pretty sure tht gow3 wasnt jus bought by the people who bought the original ps2 versions. there will be people buying it becoz they want to know what happened in the beginning. the long intro in gow3 wasnt there for nothing u know ;)

  • hilts #27 2 years ago

Farce! Glad I imported mine some time ago !
  • Zebula77 #28 2 years ago

Having it be released AFTER GoWIII is a bit of a mistake imo. Would have been an excellent way to lead up to the third one.

Anyways, it's definitely worth a purchase. Playing through the first one right now (in between bouts of FFXIII grinding) and it's still a kick ass game that looks better than ever.

I'm waiting to buy GoWIII til after I've finished them. Could be a while I guess, but by then I imagine I can get it cheaper anyways.
  • RexRunti #29 2 years ago

Ordered the import on Saturday. Big mistake on Sony's part as by the time I complete I and II III will probably be available everywhere secondhand.
  • hardtech #30 2 years ago

I've been considering buying this for some time from the states so glad I don't have to, and it does give me time to finish GoW3 and maybe FF13 before it comes out.
  • darren1976 #31 2 years ago

Played Demo of GOW3, but will get the collection before buying the new one so news of Euro release is very welcome!
  • Moz #32 2 years ago

Got the trillogy boxset myself. Was expensive but then you also get 3 sound track cds in the deal too
  • Ignatius_Cheese #33 2 years ago

Pilfered from Blerk on the Bargains Thread...

    Pre-Order - £17.99 from Play.com

    I bit...
  • GamesConnoisseur #34 2 years ago

As most discerning gamers would also already imported Demon's Soul, and with the pricing and lateness of European's Collection .... what on the earth is SCEE doing?!

Doesnt inspire confidence that our market is being well looked after, PSN PS1 contents are famed stinker and a very much third rate.

Yet... supposedly the most important market in giving PS3 the global saturation point? Please treat us as first rate market then.
  • The_Mountie #35 2 years ago

    Which transfer, though?

I wonder will they be the PAL censored versions (no human in the cage), or the NTSC uncensored one (human in cage) ?

    This is CRUCIAL!
  • Hexagon #36 2 years ago

And once again the United Kingdom is paying significantly less than the rest of the European Union. This will likely result in gamers from other parts of the European Union to invest their money into the United Kingdom, allowing them to get the same product for much less. It is a win/win situation.
  • goldeneye23 #37 2 years ago

too little too late I already imported it BITCHEZ!
  • Stegofreak #38 2 years ago

Very much like this. I lend my GOW1&2 (PS2 versions) to a friend a few years ago and haven't seen them since. Been waiting to play them again before trying three.

Was talking to one of the lads in the local GameStop and he said they had it exclusive, is that still the case?
  • Collymilad #39 2 years ago

    Nice.

Was wanting a good reason to put off III due to cash problems so this is perfect, as I've never completed the first 2 (haven't played the first one at all, and am in the process of doing the second on PS2, but i might just bin that run now)

    Yay.
  • AhSoul #40 2 years ago

Thanks to those that replied - I'll wait and get the trilogy or something then :)
  • barkertron #41 2 years ago

Bought the collection on import about a week or two ago (it was £30 on ebay and arrived the next day; not too shabby). I've got to say I've been really impressed - I never played the first two and they're seriously good.

There's a lot more plot than I previously suspected too, so I'd totally recommend playing these before III if it's not too late.
