Europe to get MGS4 bundle too

But looks like console will be black.

SCEE boss David Reeves has confirmed Europe will be getting a Metal Gear Solid 4 hardware bundle featuring a PS3, Sixaxis and a copy of the game on 12th June for EUR 439.

Similar bundles have already been announced for the US and Japan. There, however, the console included is a special steel grey colour. Judging by the packaging shown at SCEE's PlayStation Day this afternoon, the European bundle will include a 40GB machine in plain old piano black.

As previously announced, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is launching on 12th June worldwide. For more PlayStation Day news, read our live text.

That's rubbish! I wanna gun metal gray one.
  • caligari #3 4 years ago

Heh heh - I was about to PM Psychotext the news...until I read the 'no gun-metal' bit.

    Import time, Psycho! :)

Will there be Dual Shock 3 in there?

    If not, why not?
  • Kujata #5 4 years ago

Gun metal PS3 + Dual Shock 3 would have likely equalled a sale...

But without them... Well, i don't really want to play MGS4 that much.

caligari: I'm not messing around with import blu-rays. I almost always rent films these days.
  • GiantHaystax #7 4 years ago

They have to get rid of the shittier models *somewhere* And people are surprised it's Europe?

  • Cloudane #9 4 years ago

40GB is actually not enough whatever way you look at it.

I have seven PlayStation 3 games, ten PSN games and 10 PSone games and I only have a messily 7GB left.

80GB would be fantastic but NNNOOOOOO, Sony do not want us to have it.
  • Xerx3s #10 4 years ago

Be happy, grey/silver is so fucking tacky. Black = slick/win.

Well according to sony "Metal Gear Solid® (MGS) franchise, is, this summer, being bundled with PLAYSTATION®3 and a SIXAXIS controller offering millions of PS3 and MGS fans around the world the ultimate gaming combo
  • Eighthours #12 4 years ago

Sony hates us yet again. Is anyone really still surprised?
  • monkie_king #13 4 years ago

Is Europe the strongest PS3 market at the moment? If they're selling it without much effort, that might explain why they can get away with the 40GB and Sixaxis.

Incidentally, anyone think it's weird how many Sixaxis they still seem to have left? Surely they had some idea of when that Immersion case was going to end, why did they stickpile so many of the gimped pad? Please tell me they're not still manufacturing them, exclusively for Europe?
  • Psychotext #14 4 years ago

@monkie_king: By far the strongest market.
  • Blerk #15 4 years ago

Remember, Europe is 'really important to Sony'. >-(

Whew, so many trolls reporting for duty in this article, and i was wondering where were they all hiding. ;)

It could,ve been worse, atleast you can buy any 3rd party HDD and hook it to your PS3 and if you look well you can find one for really cheap.

I only feel sorry for those 360 premium/Arcade users, how much is the microsoft only 120GB again ? ;)

We are tired of the old 'boycott' PS3 that was aired around too much last year during the more difficult time for PS3 owners, and I have myself criticised Sony before my gaming hunger got too weak and splashed out on PS3 mere month or so after release last year.

Glad to have PS3, but godammit, why dont SCEE get grilled for their treatment of Europe? Why darent we raise the 'discrimination' that we European get in comparasion to other regions?

The SixAxis left lying around in US and Jap get shifted to Europe so for Sony, nothing is wasted! In the loose term we are the new 'third world' region to Sony Executive and yet they happily fleece us for our money to line their pockets!

Nothing will change as to them, they are doing nothing wrong and broke no laws, as we are just simply buying PS3 in droves. We do have the rights as the consumer of Sony's product to get same values available elsewhere.

Awesome! I wasn't planning on getting a PS3 for ages, but I just might pick this bundle up over the summer :)
  • VMerken #19 4 years ago

Congrats to SCEE for thinking up a bundle in the end.

Bastards. I was all ready to get pre-ordering as soon as the 80GB, Dualshock 3 and Backwards Compatible bundle the US is getting was announced over here, but Sony stuck two fingers up at us Europeans yet again. I really shouldn't be surprised, should I!?
  • Kazzahdrane #22 4 years ago

    Oh well.

Sony, I was totally going to buy one of these if it was the 80Gb with DS3 and Playstation2 BC in it.

You just lost a hardware sale to someone who a year ago was all "PS3lol!". Let me know when you're going to be honest when you say Europe is important to you!
  • JaysonG #23 4 years ago

    F*ck You Sony.

    F*ck You.

If anyone seriously believes Backwards Compatibility is returning they need their head checked. There was far more to them dropping it than just reducing unit cost.

Europe gets screwed because of the complexity of the market, with multiple languages along with mixed gaming tastes. For example Germany still loves PC, while the UK is more console driven. It is laziness, and Microsoft deserves plaudits for going to the lengths it does over and above it's competitors.

Sisaxis AGAIN in your bundle Mr Sony, European consumers butt-raped with your cut back machine AGAIN. Makes me feel dirty I bought a PS3 last month......
  • zedzee #26 4 years ago

Euroland gets stiffed once more...Thanks Sony. Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot...it's SONY we're talking about.
  • Slipstream #27 4 years ago

Oh...so it's basically you're standard 'any game' console bundle, right.
  • 5lectro #28 4 years ago

I wanted to get a PS3 for MGS4, but i'm sure as hell not getting a 40gig model with no dualshock3.

Which means, no sale of any kind until a new model arrives, SONY!
  • Gnort #29 4 years ago

I refuse to buy a PS3 until they bundle a dual shock with it - I'm not buying the most expensive console on the market and then having to shell out more for a proper controller. Especially seeing as I only really want the PS3 for MGS4 - I'm still likely to do most of my gaming on my 360 even after I've bought a PS3.

After reading about the MGS4 bundle in the US and Japan, I really thought this would be the thing to go for, but no deal for this gimped Euro version.
  • SlackMaster #30 4 years ago

EUR 439, what does that convert to on the Sony exchange? Is it a bundle that works out being no cheaper than buying the game and console seperately?
  • dominalien #31 4 years ago

Thank God, otherwise I'd have to fight off the urge to get a new PS3.
  • kincaide #32 4 years ago

Lost sale here too. Those stupid f*cktards
  • PeanutR #33 4 years ago

Oh good, I was thinking I might've been tempted by the MGS bundle, now I can save my money for something else.
  • zozart #34 4 years ago

Sony, you twat! Give us a proper bundle with BC, a bigger HD and a DS3 controller.
