If the interview was actually worthwhile and covered some ground about the process of acting on a computer game, how it is different to film etc, then it would have a reason to exist on here.

But no, the level of quote tends to be "Oh my schoolgirl uniform was so tight, I was busting out of it."
Sounds like the kind of pullquote that gets positioned next to a picture of Lucy Pinder licking an ice cream in Loaded.

I realise a lot of it is tongue-in-cheek from Ellie, but that is not the reason that EG posts shit like this.

Like people have said, you don't read porno mags to get computer game reviews

What he said. There's a story dying to be written somewhere about how actors and actresses are drawn into working in a genre they don't know much about, maybe how they feel about people who think they should be au fait with the end product, etc, but it doesn't seem that eurogamer will produce it anytime soon based on what we're reading. A little titillation is fine, but about four lines related to gaming, the rest was fluff. We just want a better ratio.

Look at theregister.co.uk thats a serious IT news site.
BUT it has occasional articles about Paris Hilton or Aliens or some random nonsense.
People post in the comments there whats the IT angle and they reply there is none its just to pep things up and pad things out, you know just for fun and if you don't like it don't read it but don't complain about it.

I can't help thinking that the people commenting saying they love it and "More of this" work for rival sites and are laughing at how crap eurogamer is becoming over the past few months with these interviews by someone who has no comedic value what so ever.

It just seems like such a waste of time. It won't be long before word gets around that Eurogamer are a bunch of jokers and you'll find it increasingly hard to get interviews with people or even reviews. Granted Holly Valance isn't exactly A-List but she must have thought this Ellie person was a total idiot.

But it can't be the kind of demeaning sexist garbage you get on those websites because this article was written by a woman.

On a lighter note, does anyone else think Jade Raymond has had a boob job? Can we have a vote?

I totally agree with Holly for what it's worth, Ellie definitely should be doing EGTV in the nude.

Get rid of Johnny Minkley - no offence to the guy - and just get Ellie presenting EGTV with her Coco Hernandez out. Guaranteed hits, and if you show a little bit of the game in the corner or something it'll get sales going through the roof.

/has thought about this a little bit too much

I can honestly not believe you guys are whining so much about this article. THIS is what makes Eurogamer UNIQUE! I can read the same news tidbits about gaming on every other site (and there are plenty of them around) because they are all based on the same press releases and hype. But where else do I get this alternative view on the outskirts of gaming? Only here, only from Ellie.

It's really getting on my nerves that people come into this thread and piss and whine. If you don't like it, fine, don't read it. But what's the point of coming here and write insultingly about the author of the article, the "degradation" of Eurogamer in general and how Ellie killed your dogs? Just move on, this site is obviously not for you anymore. I am sure there are better places for you to spread your bitterness on.

What obsession with music games? So they p/review them a lot - so what? They sell loads, people want to read about them.

Obsession with celebrities? This is, what, the third time they've ever done something like this?

In case anyone is counting, I vote for "happy with this interview".

All the losers who are moaning that EG is "going down the pan" - vote with your mice and fuck off. If you don't want to read it, don't read it. That's the whole point of a menu - I chose Holly Valance, and didn't bother with the Riddick article. It's called CHOICE.

And as I said, if you don't like the content, you can choose to take a step back...

So go. Noone cares. Like Eurogamer is short of readers.

They're drawn to it for the money. That's all there is to say.

If this was a different game where the acting was important yuou might have a point. But this is a C&C game, the crappy ott acting is part of the fun, it's not meant to be a deep insightful portrayal of an alternative world at war, it's hiring sexy girls to dress up and say silly sentences.

If this was, for example, an interview with Spielberg that could be about his current involvement in games and the different between working on them and cinema etc, but EG decide to just ask him how he cuts his beard in the morning, you would have a point. But this is just a bunch of crappy but hot actresses doing an acting job for a paycheque. EG give it the exact amount of respect it needs. If they actually tried to take it seriously that would be more embaressing, but instead we get some friendly banter, that's informative and funny.

Argh, no, I'm not going to seek deep and meaningful insights from FHM girls. It's just...you get a film script, you can read and understand it, right? But a computer game...I don't even know where they'd start. "In this scene the State of WhotheHell has unleashed a fleet of Flibbertigibbets on the Republic of IDon'tUnderstandAnyOfThis and you have to report on the possibility of WheresMyAgentIWantOutOfHere."

Followed by interviews asking if you've managed to complete the game, when you've only looked at it for 5 minutes and even then didn't understand it at all. But somehow the gamers expect you to be able to talk about it in depth...like the Cillit Bang guy would be able to tell you the chemical formula for it.

Yeah, they did it for the money, but if a screen acting job came along which paid the same would they take it up? Are they reluctant to leave their comfort zone? And does acting on a game harm any chance of screen roles?

This is stuff I'd like to know.

It's a pretty female who is in a game. Sit back, chill and enjoy.

I will also agree with everyone who called Edge a bunch of pretencious twats, and I will through gamestm in there as well.

Most of the writers and readers sound like right twats whose heads are so far up their ass they see more brown than a killzone two player.
