Eurogamer goes to WAR
Massive MAG event announced.
Eurogamer needs you! Specifically, we need you to kill our enemies.
Ahead of the launch of MAG for PlayStation 3 at the end of January, we need 64 of our best and most handsome and talented readers to represent us in a massive battle against our bitter and extremely evil rivals at another website.
You will get to play the game online early next month as part of the open beta, and then take those skills into battle on our behalf at a Central London venue, where you will be pampered with free food and drink and invited to play against our evil enemies in Sabotage and Acquisition battles.
After that, you will join forces with our aforementioned enemies and take the battle to 128 unspeakably evil super enemies from the US, all of whom probably have one of those rubbish little tuft beard things. Remember: the enemies of our super enemies are our friends. All 64 of them.
Not content with that, all 64 of our guys will get a limited edition copy of MAG to take home and finish the fight. Wait, that's the other lot. You may also find yourself starring in a special Eurogamer TV Show covering the event.
More details to follow in the New Year! In the meantime, why not remind yourself what MAG is all about in our beefy hands-on preview?

Sounds like all the trappings to a bad MMO PUG group to me

I did Killzone 2 on Hardened I think it was called, and that was when I first got it. It was pretty mental though. Definitely the last few checkpoints in the game, but hey I pressed on and won!
Did Modern Warfare 2 on Veteran without too much trouble, and I teamed up with someone to do some of the later levels of spec-op's, and ended up blazing through the Gulag mission, doing it in 40 seconds.
I have about 706 trophies, 4 or 5 of which are platinums, and same goes for the games which are around the 80% mark. Got Batman at 75%, but that's pretty hard in the challenge rooms, so I haven't bothered with that too much, as it just gets crazy. The only time I got the trophy for not being attacked once, and getting a perfect on it, was when I was drunk. Couldn't do it when I was sober at all, so maybe a 5 second delay helps, haha.
Anyway, this sounds like the ideal event to try out MAG, and seeing as shooters are one of my specialties (the other being action games like God of War and Devil May Cry), I'd be proud to fight for Eurogamer!
I may not have been a member on here for very long, but I've been a reader of the Eurogamer articles for a lot longer, and attended both of the eurogamer events (and believe it or not, still have my Expo 2009 wrist band on......I like the bright orangeness of it, haha.
So yea, if I get to go, thank you very very much, as this sounds like an awesome event. If not, then I hope those of you who do go, have a rad and awesome time!
I'm not that bad looking either, so I think I'll do Eurogamer well.
Haha.
Thanks a lot anyway, and happy new year everyone! I hope you've all recovered by now. I had one, and it wasn't nice, so I slept all day to make up for it, and then woke up at 6pm, to go out at 8pm to see Sherlock Holmes.
It was pretty good, but had a lot more crime solving than action, unlike what the trailer offers. I'd still recommend it, if you're a fan of slightly spooky crime stories.
TriggerHappyTel - Weren't you on the playstation forums years back? Possibly even when they were still blue and orange? You should know my handle. If not, my old one was Dante365.........that's very old though. Been Cortez for years.

You can see this easily in MW2 where a small clan who communicate with headsets will wipe the floor against a team of renegades.

I see your concern, but I believe the design of objectives etc in MAG will counter this. It would certainly be possible to create a game where the rewards for achieving objectives were appropriately weighted against the rewards for individuality or "aimlessness" (if you excuse the pun). Very excitied to see whether they've got it right. By the looks of things, I think they may have done.

But I don't really care for children bragging about their gaming "prowess" so does that mean you should toddle along? Or have you magically failed to notice all the people marking you down? Thanks for calling my comment smart though, appreciated.
