Hans Christian Andersen once did a pretty glowing review of a sunset, but I'm sure he'd like Wii Sports Resort better.

As a Dane I can't say I really felt there was a need for this - we (fortunately) don't have localized games here and I imagine many if not most of us are used to the vast majority of the sites we visit online being in English (the only Danish sites I frequent are online stores and the daily TV and weather information :)). Although perhaps I'm greatly overestimating that number?

But anyway, good luck to Eurogamer.dk.

Why not put that eurogamer.ru domain to good use? Similar Russian sites are hideous, people will readily succumb to corporate charm. Or not. Don't blame me if you fail! MySpace is abandoning Russia because the competition is too strong. Still, worth a try.

I'm afraid i'll mainly keep visiting eurogamer.net, unless Ellie starts posting articles and reviews in danish on the site. Just won't be the same without her. Also the british humor doesn't really translate that well.

The fact is that in Europe in some genres like fps, rts, click & point or indie games (most of them "born in the U.S.A") there are a lot of very interesting developers which brings a lot of fun for everyone! :)

Its part of Raupers evil master plan, to set Eurogamer faction against Eurogamer faction at to sit laughing on top of a mountain whilst he watches the whole of Europe tear itself apart at his behest.

I also wonder if this is really a good idea. I'm Danish myself, though I live in Amsterdam, but would always come to the UK version as I'm sure there's more content and people. For the Germans and French it makes more sense, but us Danes speak good English.

Lemming81: It's not fracturing really, as those who have always read the English site can continue to and the existence of a local site shouldn't make any difference to their browsing habits. But those who want to read a site in their local language now can - there are plenty of people who don't want to (or can't!) read an English-language site.

With all this expansion going on why not cross-post review scores from the different national sites?

I mean you might not understand the text, but a score is as international as it gets. And a second/third/fourth opinion is always welcome.

It's good to see a European video game website such as Eurogamer expand in Europe. With the vast amount of American video game websites, it feels like European gamers hardly have a presence. :-(

Are you referring to a system that is similar to the one IGN uses? They post the UK, US and the Australian score on the same video game summary page.

"... there are plenty of people who don't want to (or can't!) read an English-language site."

Denmark is such a small country that - as I previously mentioned - I rather suspect most of us are used to English language sites making up for a large part of our web surfing (around 99.9% for me personally), and if anyone here below the age of 40 (or older for that matter) doesn't have at least a serviceable grasp of English they should perhaps have spent a little less time sleeping in school.
Although I guess many probably did just that so maybe Eurogamer Denmark will actually get a few visitors :).

I frequent the .de version regularly mainly because some of the editors are from my former favorite German PC game magazine (PC Action).
The UK version however is 3rd page I visit in the morning (after a general news site and a game forum).

Welcome .dk to the flock and good luck! :)

Well, the national sites can cover national issues, e.g. the German site has lots of discussion about the politicans who want to extend the child porn filtering to violent video games... z.B. hier: http://www.eurogamer.de/articles/netzfil...

But a Danish site? I mean there is just so many threads you can create about Carlsberg dominance being a threat to local breweries... :)

I read Eurogamer.de to practise my German (Ich lerne Deutsch für meine Arbeit) and because the scores are sometimes different to the UK... I don't see it as fragmenting: Europe is united only by its differences.

Wow... that came as a surprise. I am half Danish and half German, and a regular visitor at the German Eurogamer site for a second opinion. Now I can also go to the Danish site for a third opinion. Thanks..
But why not integrate the different language sites a bit better? Like showing all the review scores and a little comment from all the other Eurogamer sites on Eurogamer.net reviews?

+1 this would be a great idea, and one that would (hopefully) stop stupid comment threads going on pages and pages because (for example MGS 4 got 8/10) and provide other valued opinions to compare against.

After all a review is just an opinion, and EG, i am assuming, is proud of each of its respective sites and their reviewers so this should be a no brainer.
