Euro SOCOM Confrontation date still MIA

As US version gets beefy patch.

Sony has told Eurogamer that SOCOM Confrontation has still to be given a European date, despite the US version launching as long ago as October.

The news also contradicts UK online retailers ShopTo, Play, Amazon and GAME, which all suggest the boxed PS3 game with wireless headset will arrive on 13th February for around 35 quid.

Sony had previously told us to expect the game in "early 2009", after missing what retailers had down as a November 2008 launch.

Of course, those with fake US PlayStation Network identities can grab the third-person shooter from there, and will also find a meaty patch waiting to be applied.

This, says the official SOCOM Confrontation website, fixes "over 100 issues; some big and some small". And while there appears to have been a few server hiccups as a result of the update, Sony America is aware of the problems and "working on the issue now".

This is also not really news.

tis news to me, surely a game with 100 issues should never have been released in the first place!?

it is news, because the patch fixed shit loads of issues and brought the game to a releasable quality

So SCEE are better at quality control than SCEA?

    Stands to reason.

    US SOCOM gamers=beta testers
  • BraveArse #6 3 years ago

Have the load times been fixed yet? If that's done then I'm a launch day downloader ;)

I only say it's not news because of the site name (Euro), but I suppose in this wonderful era of a WORLD wide web I'm wrong on this on one ;) I conceed that this is news.

Still, nice to have the US test it for us. Most beta tests are free, but if SCEA get away with charging for it, good for them.

    there split screen on this?
  • Benno #9 3 years ago

Beano is right, the US gamers are beta testing this

Once it comes out in europe it should be of an acceptable standard

I am a massive fan of the socom gameplay, so I could ignore many of the annoyances and bugs, I still enjoying playing the game (I have the US one)

If I was to look at the game from an unbiased outsiders perspective, its unacceptably shit.

I'd never played a SOCOM game at all before the beta of this, and I can't say I was remotely impressed. Didn't feel like I couldn't get the same experience from other games like GRAW, Rainbow Six, CoD4 etc

Though with a good team and some time I suppose it could grow on me, but I can't see me making the effort if the developers apparently aren't.

socom confron is a broken game.
no expectations from Euro release AT ALL !
has nothing to do with beta or fixing issues.
    On it's basis it's broken. It's a f*****Up game.
It's gonna get released and score average 6

    shame on SCEE
  • jaferris #12 3 years ago

why this taking so long too come out
want to get the bundle game + mic
or would downloaded it of US account

sony really stupid they complain about low sales figures , they wouldnt be low if games where released in the same time frame
  • schnide #13 3 years ago

Since Sony didn't bother updating the graphics for this, why not buy a PS2 and a copy of the older game for the same experience, only sooner!
  • mainaman #14 3 years ago

Even if they fix the numerous issues before Euro release, the game itself is average at best.Bad graphics and laughable tactical pretensions.Unless someone tell me that you can raise the bullet damage and turn health regeneration off.
  • Benno #15 3 years ago

graphics are a bit bland, but the gameplay is spot on

there is no regen on health, so i dont know what you're on about
