Euro Ninja Gaiden demo iffy

Sony unable to clarify.

Unfortunately us Europeans will have to sit and watch from the sidelines as US and Japanese gamers enjoy a demo for Ninja Gaiden Sigma next month.

You see, Sony Europe still has no idea when we can expect PS3 taster or full game here, telling Eurogamer this afternoon that it was still waiting for information.

Meanwhile Famitsu has announced the demo will be released across North America and Japan on 27th April, ahead of the title's scheduled launch in June.

It is rumoured to include a specially created chapter that won't be in the full game, which will give you access to many of the game's weapons early on.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma is the PlayStation 3 version of the popular shuriken-slinging game for Xbox, Ninja Gaiden: Black. Creator Tecmo recently shouted at the Internet insisting that it was much more than a port.

Apparently the whole package has had an overhaul, from graphics and performance, to content and bouncy boobs.

It should prove itself to be an essential purchase when it eventually makes its way to Europe. Mercilessly attack our Ninja Gaiden Xbox review to see why.

What is it with Japaneese corporations and Europe.

Am I missing something here - can't you just lie about your region when setting up your psn account and download it anyway?
  • Artemis_Matsas #3 5 years ago

    Yes you can :) :) :)

Let's hope it stays that way ;)

You've bought a PS3 then? Last time I read a post of yours, you were quite sceptical... ;-)

Now I know that this is down to Tecmo more then Sony, but what I don't get is that Europe is currently looking to be a stronger teritory for the PS3 then america. Yet we see yet more delays! I know they may not have done all the translations yet but could they not just release the demo anyway? Majourity of people in Europe can speak English well enough to understand any in game instructions and dialog.

Hell with an action based game like this I'd be happy with the demo being in Japanese. We got DOA4 just a couple of weeks after America so why not this?

My biggest gripe was the restricted BC, which still has issues TBH, but none the less I'm having a blast with God Of War and MotorStorm ATM. The PS3 really is a neat piece of kit. Definitely not a console I'd recommend to everyone, but to nearing-middle-age-technophiles such as myself it's a very interesting piece of hardware.
  • TheJanitor #12 5 years ago

    er..just make a US account.

  • agparrot #13 5 years ago

So, from that britishgaming link, HiddenAway, they are creating a new master account...

Am I right in thinking you can only have one master account on a PS3... I suppose my question is, can you swap between this fake-japanese one and a valid UK master account easily?
  • tonynibbles #14 5 years ago

Or, just sign in with a U.S account and download it.
  • Daithi #15 5 years ago

Could the fact that this was published my MS in Europe have anything to do with it? Is the full game even guaranteed to come out here?
  • HiddenAway #16 5 years ago

    agparrot

I'm not sure (I don't have a PS3 ATM, but saw the story in my RSS feeds) but I know people have been doing it so ask around on the PS3 forums...
  • penhalion #17 5 years ago

Do they know PS3 games are region free so there isn't any point not releasing the demo in England. If we want the game we'll get an american copy. In fact we can get an american copy of ANY PS3 game and it should work flawlessly. No guess work involved.

Except that is a fighting game.

HaHa I have an American PS3 thank god. To think I was going to trade it in for a UK model!

Yeah, I see what you mean. I've got so many games left unfinished/unplayed for PS2, GC, DS, GBA and PC and still something inside me wants to splash out for a new console. Makes no sense... :-)

Do you have a regular TV with PS3 or a HD one?
  • Flabio #25 5 years ago

I suspect it's issues to do with fine region control release of the demo. Under xbox live, MS can restrict release of a demo with more granularity than just 'US, Japan, Europe'.

There's no way a demo of Ninja Gaiden would be allowed on the German PS3 service, and it's possible Sony don't have a system for distinguishing that yet.

Might be wrong, havn't dropped 400 odd quid on one yet.
  • penhalion #26 5 years ago

    @Flabio

Wait a few months and you don't have to. Should be a nice price drop for the 60, a phase out of the 20 and an introduction of the 250.......
  • JediMasterMalik #27 5 years ago

I've already set up a US account, I'll get when it's out. Looking forward to it :D
  • ilmaestro #28 5 years ago

    Sounds sploodge worthy.
  • Santino #29 5 years ago

will put money on this being the ps3's best game for years and years to come, ive completed NGB around 7 times already and cant wait to download the demo for this (after creating a US account of course)
  • JediMasterMalik #30 5 years ago

If only they "fixed" the story then that statement could be true.

everyone will buy the game in Europe, Sony can do anything + everything (I heard it's an academic study) here.

Is actually a typo in press release. Should read "most impotent continent"

You c this is wot really boils my blood.....firstly there is(in my mind)no reason at all to to constrain us from other games,i ask,do they really hate us!,well looking at it from PS2 perspective i would quite happily say YES!..on ps2 we missed out on so many great games unreleased,it really picked at my brains and if they continue to do it again they will servilely get some back lashing i tell u...its unexceptable and being totally biased to us europeans the swines....i say you think were important then treat us like we are not like lower class bums...you know...we get thrown the off cuts of the gaming industry....i myself am getting my ps3 next year and i will get one as im a Xbox hater, but i will...and i mean i will, protest with the queens honor at them and have them sent to the gallows if it turns out other wise...sony start to welcome the whole world in your arms not in your pants...!

They do... you can't get any 16/18 rated stuff at the moment on the German PS Store. That means, Lemmings and Gripshift only, no Tekken. >_<
Anyway, about this master account for Japanese PSN access thing... If I do that and download the demo, can I play it with my regular user? Or do I have to switch first to the Japanese-only user?
EDIT: Ok, did a little research by myself... apparently, you can play downloaded demos and games under any user on the system.

SD at the moment :(. Planning on getting that big boy around this time next year. Even at SD, the graphics still look impressive, though.
  • Pac #38 5 years ago

Why don't they just get on and make a *true* sequel to Ninja Gaiden.

I would buy a PS3 just to play it (if it was exclusive of course)
  • miiiguel #39 5 years ago

    what's a "hater" ? Is it a disease ?
  • morriss #40 5 years ago

I've got an account in all 3 regions, so I don't care! \o/
