Euro Fatal Inertia demo soon News

News by Robert Purchese

3 August, 2007

A spokesperson for Koei has told Eurogamer that the Euro 360 demo for Fatal Inertia is about a week away.

It follows the release of the Live taster in Japan and the US today, which weighs in at 380MB and lets you hop behind the space-age wheel of a futuristic racing ship-craft-thing.

The reason for the delay is down to a hold-up with the PEGI rating, apparently.

Fatal Inertia is a bit like Star Wars pod racing, where you dart around dangerous canyon courses in fancy vehicles, using all manner of gizmos and gadgets to slow your opponent's progress.

It's due out this September on Xbox 360, with a PS3 version to follow.

Head over to our Fatal Inertia gamepage to see the latest screenshots and trailers.

I've been told it's a sack of crap, might as well be fully cancelled for the PS3.

OMG!! This is amazingly bad, if this demo is meant to sell the game I can see it being in bargain bins in no time at all.

There is a certain "warhawk"-ness about it's release at the moment...

The demo was OK and looked reasonably nice but it was also a soulless, unexciting experience and looked a bit unpolished with dull presentation, no replays, nasty pop up, texture draw in issues and v-sync tearing (despite the fact that the enclosed tracks aren't particularly detailed or busy). The three year old Quantum Redshift was better than this and it doesn't come close to matching Wipeout or Star Wars Episode 1 Pod Racer for thrills. Definitely has budget title written all over it and with Wipeout HD on its way to the PS3, there's little reason to bother with this game unless the full game turns out to be amazing.

I can't believe how they can fuck up the controls. Just copy & paste the wipeout method ffs. And then there are the vehicles. They aren't half as interesting as the cool techno vehicles in wipeout. The levels are shit as well. Jay, racing through a desert...at least SW podracer got it right. This game clearly didn't.

i.o.w. it fucks up on just about every front.

Aww, I was hoping this would be good and help simmer down my Wipeout jealousy.

I kinda expected this to be bad just not this bad. Pretty poor effort. Also, if this is the 'optimised' 360 version, I'd hate to see the troubled PS3 version.

Liberal use of the word "Spastic" confirmed!

I was semi-interested in this early on when there was no news of a new Wipeout, but with the delay and the reactions to this demo the "# users want this game" count is about to go down by one.
