Euro 2008 demo on Live and PSN News

Xbox 360 PlayStation 3 News by Tom Bramwell

27 March, 2008

Following on from yesterday's PC demo, EA has thrown a UEFA Euro 2008 demo up onto Xbox Live Marketplace, and a PlayStation Network demo will also go live today.

The Xbox 360 demo is 1.1GB, and we're waiting for EA to let us know what's in the demo and how big it is on PS3.

If it's anything like yesterday's though, you'll get to take part in a match between England and Germany. Which, er, isn't terribly authentic to Euro 2008, but proves that it's not the winning or even the qualifying that counts.

UEFA Euro 2008 is due out on Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, PC, PSP, mobile phone, Amstrad, crackers and T-shirts on April 18th and will include several new features over and above last year's FIFA 08, including the option to Captain Your Country. Mind you, they'll let anyone do that these days...

The demo is very good. You play as either France or Germany in 2 minute halves.

If my memory serves me well which these days it seems to do little, these tournament Fifa games normally turned out better than the standard release Fifa for that year, then went backwards when the following years version was released.

So it might actually be bloody good.

well they have more time to build and refine the game..lets not forget that they are taking the Fifa 07 engine and refining it with less teams and less players..

this is all good for the next iteration of Fifa..Fifa 08 was excellent, but is missing the passion and excitement of footie!

I hope they build on what was a fantastic new engine in fifa 08. Just needs a few bugs ironing out and then this game will be the one to beat! Roll on release!

I tried the demo earlier, plays well enough as people have said, but it doesn't seem to run very well on my 360. Cinematics and replays are rife with slowdown and even ingame it feels a bit stodgy as if the engine is having trouble running those amazing looking visuals with the impressive rain and wet-look effect on the players. I also noticed players flickering during corners and set-pieces which kind of makes me think this game isn't quite finished.

Cant be any worse than the FIFA 08 Demo, that was crap and the game was so unresponsive and pre calculated.

it's a little bit faster than FIFA08, but seems to have the same general mechanics, which is good :D
Hopefully the full game has some good new features. An online cup setup would be nice... though they balsed up the online leagues last time round :P

This game is awesome. EA started new engine with FIFA 07 and now they are really going places. Response times are sweet, shooting and passing feels great. A.I. react much better than FIFA 08.

This game is the best footy game no doubt. blows FIFA 08 and PES 2008 out the water. Plent of PES will deny it but I don't know how you can once you play this.

FIFA 09 is gonna be hectic. Konami and Seabass should be very scared.

dont agree..feels backward for me...more responsive..but they have removed the physics..animations to make it responsive!
Tricks no longer feel organic..and are random animations..

its lost a lot what made fifa 08 amazing

Very impressed, hopefully the improvements will continue with FIFA 09.
