Had at 8 written all over it before the review hit. Pre ordered this a while ago, big fan of tri-crescendos work, well mainly baten kaitos, absolutely loved that game!

>> What exactly is it going to take until everbody owns a 360.

A SILENT, reliable, multi-region 360 not made by MS (think Apple clones)... then I'd buy one. :P

Looks like I'll never be getting one, then. (already got a dual-core gaming PC with an 8800GTS anyway...)

A brave score. If I were a reviewer, I'd always mark up games that try to be creative and original as much as possible.

Still, i've played a lot of Jrpgs in my time (really, a lot), and although the stories, art and music tend to range from bizzare to beautiful the game play is instantly familiar in it's tediously boring nature. Nothing but a revolution on gameplay would convince me to buy one now.

It's more a 6 if you don't like JRPGS, which is my case. Had to play through a good deal of the game and it's original in many aspects but also lazy.

If you don't like JRPGs surely it's a "Don't buy under any circumstances!"

I don't like them, so of course I don't buy them because I've tried enough to know I'll never like them. But I still appreciate if they are well built.

It's like, I don't like pedophiles, but if one sings well I'd still get the record.

Edit: Sorry, not a good example.

What a stupid comment. The 360 supports region free games to begin with, only publishers make it region locked. And 'not made by MS'? What does that make you? A hater that doesn't play good games because it's made by 't3h uber 3v1l!' ?

Maybe he just doesnt like the idea of having to send it back to them when it breaks a year after he buys it.

Play BD in hard mode then, it's not a walk in the park.

"I'm I the only one that noticed certain postsmin here by certain people claiming they will buy this game looks so false? It's like some are saying they will buy it just to look cool and open-minded (I doubt one even ones a 360). "

Jeez, you sure do know people do you. Goes back to playing Blue Dragon on his invisible 360.

Yes, I've had trouble with my PS2. After opening it up, cleaning the lens, and adjusting the lens height... it worked.

I'd be surprised if MS make it that easy. Does something like that "solve" the Red Ring Of Death or whatever it's called? No, I'm sure it doesn't.

"Well, PC games would have to stop being made. Then the 360 would have to support keyboard and mouse. And it would have to have backwards compatibility with every single game in my pc collection. It would also have to be able to download indie games and execute them just as well as a pc. and... it would have to be a pc."

Good luck finding a dcent JRPG on that then. Why the hell can't people like you stay in their own threads.

Just finished 1st runthru of this in the States.

I'm not a fan of JRPGs by any means, and ES certainly has many problems, but overall this was so unique (story-wise) and the "semi-active battle system" was so fun that I'm gonna try a 2nd play to finish it (there's alot of the game that cannot be played on the 1st runthru -- unfortunately that's where most of the achievements are).
Just came upon this thread trying to find a discussion about what the hell the story actually meant. While I liked it, I have absolutely no idea what its about. Yes, Chopin's deathbed dream and all that, but whatever Tri-Cresendo was trying to tell me did not make it through the translation process.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who had the depth perception problem! This was especially true when fighting that "crow" in the graveyard as your characters are trying to retrieve water from the Similie spring, I kept either hitting a few out of many hits (Chopin) or none at all.

I also agree that the battles get boring after a while. I find myself yearning for new special attacks just for the slight change.

And finally, I don't know if it's cute or ridiculous how almost everything in the game is named after a musical term or genre, maybe it's both. Either way, I suppose that gives the game a little bit of a uniqueness.

Even though this game is very typical in a lot of ways as far as anime and RPGs go, respectively, clearly I liked the game enough to play it all the way through and beat it. And to those who haven't beaten it yet, I won't spoil the ending, but if you have to use the restroom... do it before you beat it because the ending is roughly 30-45 minutes long!

8 out of 10 for me.

Played about 3 hours into the PS3 version and while I adore the graphics and the story, I just can't be doing with the combat. I didn't realise it was so simple and action orientated, plus getting killed can result in so much gameplay being lost due to the spacing of save points.

Really wanted to like this one, but I think I'm gonna have to throw it on Ebay :(
