Epic patches UT3 on PS3
Better voice chat and mod support.
Epic Games has popped a plaster over the bleeding bits of Unreal Tournament 3 on PS3.
The bulk of the healing was done to mods, so they should be easier to install and you can expect less errors. There should also be less problems with voice chat, and you will be able to see who is holding down the talk button to play Gunther songs.
The US version of the game has a much lengthier list of updates, but this is simply because it came out earlier - us Europeans had those fixes from launch.
A full list of fixes can be found below.
European changes
- Mods now on root of memory device, can download easier from PS3 web browser
- Fixed VOIP quality issues
- Fixed some headset connection issues
- Added support for full character mods (heads/premade whole characters)
- No longer need to reboot after importing a character mod to see it in menus
- DLC no longer acts like a user mod (being listed in MyContent and causing disable mod crash dialog)
- Fix for bootup and import slowdown with many mods installed
- Add a VOIP icon when VOIP is active (button held down)
- Fixes for corrupted the auto-mod-download cache
- Fix for flickering auto-download text
- Fix for getting stuck in multiplayer menu if you get in before gamespy connects
- Fixed a mod problem with switching between mod and shipping maps with clients teleporting randomly
- Fixed a mod problem with multiple gametype mods installed, only first one imported would work
- Fixed Leviathan deploy icon
- Bots now respect players feigning death (depending on bot skill level)
- Bots now respect sandstorm "blindness"
- Fix for bots picking linkgun mode

Alternatively, rather than letting America playtest it for us, they could have actually tested the game before it came out.

I thought it was because you lot hate RFOM...
Anyone actually playing this? I hate the UE so much that I just can't pick this up, not even on cheap import. I really like that they brought mods to consoles and I feel they should be praised and rewarded for it. If only Epic created games that one would actually want to play and could bear watching...

Hold out for the 360 version all you want, its increasingly looking as if it's never going to materialise and if it does it will be without Keyboard, Mouse and mod support.
In the meantime I shall enjoy one of the PS3s best shooters on the console which will allow it to do all the things it's supposed to.

The matches have a maximum player count of 64. What's the maximum on PS3? 16, isn't it?
Oh, and I paid £13 for the game itself from HMV. How much is it on PS3 again?
I hate to be fanboyish, but damn, I hate it when people endlessly repeat this "You have to spend the entire worth of your house on a PC to play games" crap.

I must admit to preferring playing this game with a controller over a keyboard and mouse on my PC and the PS3 version is very slick and fast and loads of fun to play. I've played several games online with upto to 16 players and never encountered any lag which is impressive for a free online gaming service. Great game, every bit as impressive visually as it was on my PC except it runs smoother on my PS3.

wait for UT3 on the Xbox360....so that you start paying money to play it online using your own online bandwidth on XBL !!

I have the PS3, 360 and the Wii.
Multi platform games i get for my 360. Its comments like yours that piss me off. im not an Xbot but i would rater have dual platform games on Live for many reasons. The main one being voice, I play with a lot of regular mates and chat in games should be in my opinion a given. On my PS3 most people either have crap headsets or sound like robots. But dont get me wrong UT3 on the PS3 is cool and should now be better, now i can talk to some robot sounding people.
