Entire PS3 Sly Collection will have 3D

As well as new Move mini-games.

3D support has been extended to the entire Blu-ray Sly Collection, not just Sly 3, Sony's Jefferson Dong has revealed.

What's more, developer Sanzaru Games has added PlayStation Move mini-games to each title. We'll hear more about those "soon", said Dong on the US PlayStation blog.

Included in the Sly Collection are Blu-ray remasters of Sly Cooper and Thievius Raccoonus, Sly 2: Band of Thieves and Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves. Each of those originally PS2 games now has HD graphics and Trophies.

In the US, the Sly Collection will cost $39.99.

Sony has tried this Blu-ray remastering malarkey before, most recently on PS2 games God of War I and God of War II. The result, thankfully, was excellent, as Kristan Reed found out for Eurogamer.

    so far today.

    I'm assuming that Move is only used for the mini games? I really want this but I'm not playing a game that would only play properly on a real controller, than play with a waggle wand.

    not bothered, you can keep your 3D and your Wii mini games I just want the games to look bright and shiny in 1080p

    Jefferson Dong.

    I swear Sony operates a policy where, when you join, you have to lose your real name and take on a new made up one.

    I was wondering where the daily 3D article was...
  • Arwin #7 2 years ago

    Yes, Move support is only for the mini games. There have been some tiny previews somewhere - expect a lot of Wii cliches I think, as I the one I saw had slashing reeds with a sword or something like that.

    I never played any of these games, so who knows. Certainly IF I get 3D sometime next year, I'd like to try a 3D platformer and see if that helps with the jumping ... on ... platforms.

    Wooooooo...oh....what?

  • Goodfella #10 2 years ago

  • alcides #11 2 years ago

    we still want ICO/Collosus :D

    It would be nice in 3D, also.

    On first hearing it, i thought the Sly franchise was an odd choice but i'm really starting to look forward to it. Only ever played the first game but it was excellent.

    £49.99 in the UK, then? Let's hope not. In any case, yay for region-free gaming!

    It could be that my memory's failing me, but I don't recall using the 3D glasses in Sly 3. I might give them a go this time around.

    @X201

    Your comment made me lol, but I just phoned my friend who works for Sony, Herbert Dingleberry Twangnuts the 3rd, and he says you're talking bollocks.

    A slight aside, but I happened to see the rugby on Sky Sports 3D in the pub today and it was really quite impressive. Way, way better than I was expecting, and I'm an unashamedly enthusiastic about 3D in general.

    @FabricatedLunatic

    I usually find myself saying "health care system" to myself when i think our cousins over the pond have it better, so i don't mind the few extra quid for a game.

    Anyway, the GoW Collection was well priced and i can't see Sony charging over the odds for this, especially when you consider that the Sly brand(despite its quality) wouldn't have the same heft at retail as GoW.
  • FabricatedLunatic #18 2 years ago

    Good point about GoW collection. I'd rather support the domestic release if possible, and if it comes in at £30 RRP or below, that's what I'll do. I don't mean to be a pessimist but I've seen that kind pricing disparity happen too many times in the past.
  • Arwin #19 2 years ago

    @Darren: well then how lucky for you that those are optional. :) (Assuming your 'not not' isn't no double negative)
  • Lingmops #20 2 years ago

    Hear this Sony/Team Ico/Whoever, Shadow of the Colossus in HD & 3D will make make me get a 3d system. That is the point at which I can be bought. Make it so
  • mcreddie #21 2 years ago

    Great games! Awesome!
  • JahB #22 2 years ago

    I don't get it. I loved my ps2, had well over 150 games and could discuss low- and highlights all day - but I've never seen any of the sly cooper games.

    Were they popular in the states or something?
  • theiceman #23 2 years ago

    @teabagger:

  • kimchibaka #27 2 years ago

    Wow nice! I came here for news about Sly HD, but I get the added bonus of cheap prom dresses. Everyone's a winner!
  • bell_801 #28 2 years ago

    Move mini-games, lol ... that shit is a so useless add-on.
  • alcides #29 2 years ago

    @RandomRash

    dunno, but PlayTV 2 is definitely in the works. With British HD and 3D to, and perhaps a better interface (it's fine as it is, but only so much). You guys have BBC too! Lucky sods (kindly meant) :)

    RIGHT - The PS3 can now be redeemed for its shortcoming sins.

    Port the best of the PS2's back-catalogue over to PS3, in 1080p 60fps 3D, and you're onto an absolute WINNER!

    As things stand, I'm only really interested in 2 PS3 games per year on average, but this could more than triple that number if they pick the best games, and patch in a few features like improved control configs (Resi 4 3D Move Edition)?
