English Metro 2033 keeps Russian VO
THQ's spooky shooter goes authentic.
The English release of Metro 2033 will include a subtitled version of the original Russian dialogue. Both PC and Xbox 360 versions support this.
We hope that means no comedy Eastern European accents, although we haven't heard the English VO yet.
Metro 2033 is a post-apocalyptic shooter set beneath Moscow, where metro stations have become settlements now Earth's surface is ravaged by disaster.
Developer 4A-Games hopes to layer on the atmosphere, and has turned out a game not too dissimilar to GSC's S.T.A.L.K.E.R. so far.
Head over to our hands-on impressions of Metro 2033 to find out more.
Metro: 2033 will be released on 19th March.

I bet Keith David does a voice in it though.

With so many actors unemployed at any one time, you'd think it'd be simplicity itself to pick and choose the good, or at least competent ones. There's just no excuse for bad VO. I mean, how long has it been since "the master of unlocking"? You don't need big names like B.O.Ware tend to sign up either - most of the really good ones are virtual unknowns, e.g. Steven Russell (Garrett in Thief) or Laura Bailey (Bloodrayne - her delivery of "I have *bowel* in my hair" is one for the ages)

The other day I watched Das Boot with the English voice overs (the missus refused to watch the original German version...bah). The film makers had used all the skill and talent to craft an incredibly tense atmosphere...which was utterly spoilt by comedy accents in the English voice over.
