Elefunk on PSN today

Plus pretty Naruto demo.

Sony has updated the PlayStation Store again.

This time Elefunk leads the stampede. This is the PSN puzzler where you build a bridge and then get as many elephants over it as you can. It costs GBP 4.99 and we'll be bringing you our thoughts on it very soon.

Also on the Store is a demo for Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm. Sounds unexciting, but it is a PS3 exclusive and it does look splendid.

On top of those are trailers for Ragdoll Kung Fu: Fists of Plastic, Siren: Blood Curse, and Ratchet & Clank Future: Quest for Booty.

Head over to Eurogamer TV to watch those right now.

    Elefunk looks cute.

    I just bought it, and in ten minutes this game has taught me that I'm obviously a complete and utter moron. The tutorial took me five or six attempts - and the first challenge in puzzle mode, which is exactly the same as in the tutorial, apparantly doesn't work with the same configuration, or any other I've tried with the limited number of puzzle pieces available from the start.

    Granted, I've never been good at puzzle games, but this is just embarrasment taken to an entirely new level :).

    @Miths;

    Do you feel challenged though? is it enjoyably embarrassing or frustratingly so?
  • the_dudefather #5 4 years ago

    just tried Naruto, don't really know much about the show, but the demo looks nice enough and its a decent enough fighting game from what i've played

    watched a video for Elefunk, looks cool but not sure if I should take the plunge, this is why the standardised demos are nice on XBLA :)

    Elefunk - bought it, love it.

    About 10 levels in now.

    Miths - your incompetence at this game is shocking! :)

    Mind you I have just come to a grinding halt too. Brain hurts. I think I need a caffeine injection.

    @hammerstein07

    I got through the first challenge - finally - but halfway through the trial and error process of the second one (those who are even remotely decent at puzzle games probably don't have to bother much with trial and error, but can probably just take a look at it and see what to do) I arrived at the conclusion that I really just shouldn't spend my money on puzzle games in the future :).
    I enjoyed Puzzle Quest on the 360 for a while (even my brain could wrap itself around the bejeweled gameplay), but that's about it.

    Elefunk is cute but I'll be damned if I understand what you have to do. The game's tutorial is pathetic to say the least and doesn't really tell what you have to do. It took me ages to finish the first level through experimentation and I'm totally stuck on the second level (Puzzle mode). Help... what exactly do you have to do? Can anyone explain it better than the game? I gather you have to reinforce the bridges so the elephants can cross it without it collapsing?
  • the_dudefather #9 4 years ago

    The idea is to reinforce the bridges for the elephants to cross, the best way to do this is to slap up a load of girders, and do each section at a time, using the play mode to check for structural weaknesses, be sure to attach girders to the pre existing links attached to bits of the level, the larger ones are stronger and can support more weight

    agreed that the tutorial doesn't really tell you much, but keep experimenting with it and you'll get the hang of it, about 4 levels in myself

    Is Elefunk worth a squirt then? It looked half-decent on the vids and I like a puzzler. The only doubt I have is replay value.
  • TheWretched #11 4 years ago

    Well, I love Elephunk :D

    Loved Bridge Builder on the PC too, and this is more or less a spiritual sequel to it
  • 3william56 #12 4 years ago

    I didn't know the Black Eyed Peas were game developers.
  • seasidebaz #13 4 years ago

    Elefunk is awesome. Although I'm like Miths, I feel like a complete moron playing it and I am generally awesome at logic puzzle games ;)

    My only beef is the bonus level you get to, as there isn't enough of an explanation on what to do...

    How come the US gets an Elefunk DEMO and the full game but we only get the latter? What feeble excuse does SCEE have for that I wonder?
  • iancognito #15 4 years ago

    The trailer looked good, so might be worth a go.
  • seasidebaz #16 4 years ago

    Basically, to all those sitting on the fence about it, it's kind of like Armadillo Run. But loads better.

    Shut up Rob Naruto looks like an awesome fighter and i'm not a huge naruto fan

    Create a US account, there's a demo of Elefunk available on the US store. I don't know why the EU store didn't get it.
  • phatb0y #19 4 years ago

    Given the demo a blast and on the strength of that bought it.

    Not a bad little game at all.
  • Darren #20 4 years ago

    I like the fact the way Sony price there PSN games depending on what they are and most are under a fiver which is nice. In comparison, Microsoft seem to charge £6.80 (800 points) as standard for any old crap these days. Sure it might only be an extra £1.81 but for me it's the difference between me buying a game and not buying one. I just wish Sony would release trial demos of ALL PSN games though, that's at least something Microsoft have got right from the start.
  • monkie_king #21 4 years ago

    TheWretched: ah, I thought the gameplay sounded familiar. Wasn't there a 3D sequel, Pontifect?
  • BlackZam #22 4 years ago

    Why does it cost $4.99(31sek) in the US £4.99(61sek) in UK and then 70sek in Sweden?
    This is just ridiculous. :(
  • BlackZam #23 4 years ago

    I can't find Naruto on PSN. :(
  • seasidebaz #24 4 years ago

    @Darren:

    I've now bought 3 psn games, and 0 XBLA games, simply because PSN shows me how much stuff costs.

    I don't like MSPoints, and never will.
