Eidos dates Championship Manager 2010

And promises a demo next week.

Eidos plans to release the newest Championship Manager on 11th September.

Championship Manager 2010 (once CM 2009) was held back to become a fiercer competitor for the management simulation crown. The result is a 3D match engine and CM Season Live feature, which downloads match data and statistics as it happens in real life.

There are wealth of minor features too: a set-piece creator, scouting networks, practice matches and better animation and polish.

The effect of these should be evident in a demo due out on Friday, 14th August. This offers over half-a-season of gameplay, and saved games can be carried into the full, retail version.

Look out for our hands-on impressions of CM 2010 in the near future.

why don't these football games just have downloadable content? Nothing really changes to warrant a full price package game.

Presumably that's a rhetorical question, because the answer is pretty obvious.

If you truely believe that all you get each year is a 'Roster Update' then goodluck developing your own Football Managing Franchise. Having seen the work that's currently going on with one of the Football Manager sims, I can tell you that you get a LOT more then just a Roster Update each year.

    Look forward to trying this.

Remember that although they're released yearly, they're PC games, so (1) The price of these full games are about the price of what expansions used to be and (2) these type of games are ones that suck you into tens if not hundreds of hours of gameplay; value for money is never a problem if the game is a good one.

Will be interesting to find out of this is a good one after its well needed break :)

I remember when gaps between versions were longer, with roster updates and minor game play fixes in smaller releases.

Between CM2 and CM 97/98 there was just a lower priced update instead of a full release. And CM3, a big overhaul came out two years after 97/98.

Okay okay I just thought at face value not a lot can change. Also I would assume the same engine is often used so the next time would be a quicker process unless theres an overhaul. I admit i don't make games and yeah if it is very good and long lasting, of course such a game is worth the price tag. I have gooten abit cynical lately. so many games im told i should like but don't somehow : (

Noooo. This game should be banned. How are we to study/work with this amongst us?

Looks like i'll need to order a bulk supply of Pro Plus.

Why download real-life stats and results in real time? It's utterly irrelevant to what's going on in your virtual football season in the game. If Swansea were having an awful season in the game, but a great season in real-life, it'd be nuts to see their stats going up!

They said it would be used to capture real life scenarios. They gave the example if they had this last year (and a game released) the live update would have gave you the situation of taking over Newcastle with 8 games to go, with their poor form and low morale, to see if you could save them from being relegated.

Its an interesting idea, and I'll be keen to see how it turns out, as the scenario scene from Football Management Sims is pretty addictive, and for some people as fun as lower league management.

Can someone explain to me about the updates? As far as I can tell the game out of the box will not have any summer transfers, Owen will be at Newcastle, Ronaldo at United, Adebayor at Arsenal etc. Is that true? A whole season out of date?
But you can update with a day 1 patch to make it this years game? If that's the case then it's really showing its CM09 updated!
Also, this thing of paying £5 for updates so that you can put yourself in the position, for example that Shearer was in with 8 games to go, with the right injuries, numbers of goals etc. Sound great to me. My question is will the updates have the real remaining fixtures in and do CM then have the license to the Prem to reproduce their fixture list?
