Eidos cagey on new Lara title
Trademark listing spills beans.
Eidos has kept quiet over suggestions that new Lara outing will be called Tomb Raider: Underworld.
Suggestions it would don the title erupted after the publisher filed a US trademark for the name, spotted by the keen eyes of specialist site Trademork.
The filing will apparently cover both retail and digital distribution of the game, hinting that we could see it offered on Live in a similar way to Tomb Raider: Anniversary. Or it could mean we will simply be offered it on Steam like the rest of Eidos' catalogue.
Additional details are scant, other than rumblings it will be centred around the last five days of the Mayan Calendar, where portals between our world and the Underworld open and let nasty things have their way.
Eidos unveiled plans to expand on its Tomb Raider series earlier this year in a financial statement, alongside with promises it would extend Hitman, Just Cause and Championship Manager franchises.
Meanwhile those of you hungry for a bit of Lara should pop over to our Tomb Raider: Anniversary review to find out why it scored nearly top marks.

Remember Crystal Dynamics, more puzzling and less combat.

The last two games have been great! Especially the last one. Which was technically the first one.

More of the same or better, please!

I just hope they won't start churning out sequels on an annual base, because that's what (almost ?) killed the franchise first time round.

Admit it, you got that the wrong way round, didn't you?
You did, right...?

Legend was not a "real" TR game IMO

I'd like to see a new game made more in the style of Anniversary than Legend please... oh and proper 720p support and a smooth 30 fps framerate while you're at it... thanks!

New iteration would need to be able to stand out from Drake's Fortune in my view.
Underworld, if its different enough rather than retreads of orginial/Anniversary then I ll be interested.

The Uncharted vs. Tomb Raider comparison is a bit misunderstood.
Uncharted is 80% shooting and 20% exploring/platforming while a "real" Tomb Raider game (like Anniverary) usually is 80% exploring/platforming and 20% shooting.
Both great games though - just very different

I agree though, that's how a good TR game is focused.

Well I've played and completed it... it's 80% gears-of-war-shooting and 20% lara-stuff-but-not-as-good

I would say 3-4 "real" ones
