EGTV: Mario Galaxy blowout

Star Get!

The Eurogamer TV multiplex today draws back the curtains on four utterly joyous new trailers for Super Mario Galaxy. If the extended Japanese trailer, Japanese player demo, and TV spots 1 and 2 don't have you grinning like the proverbial idiot, then it's time you gave up on gaming and took that job in the funeral parlour. You're as dead inside.

Super Mario 64 first released in 1996, and it's only now, a decade later - having weathered the disappointment of Sunshine in the interim - that we seemingly stand before the true heir to Miyamoto's 3D masterpiece.

Today's bling quartet of videos serves up fresh footage of now-familiar elements like Bee Mario, Boo Mario and the ingenious Wii control system; plus there's loads of other primary-coloured capers revealed that we'll let you see for yourselves. Frankly, it reminds us why we fell in love with video games in the first place. Swoon.

Super Mario Galaxy warps onto Wii in Japan on November 1st, changing into its European dungarees on November 16th.

This looks like a true follow-up to M64, which can only be a good thing =)

Holy shit this looks good. And that's the first time we've had the fireflower since Mario went 3D isn't it? Awesome. :)

Still think the bee costume looks incredibly camp though...

Why is the related group Gay Gamers?

EGTV is a little bit borked for me in its latest incarnation... a few people have commented on this in the forum.

I've got high hopes for this one; probably I'm not the only one, almost 500 EG users want this as well :)

BTW, why is this game related to the Gay gamers group???

    ROFL @ Gay gamers

    flaming queens and fire flowers?
  • Lemming81 #6 4 years ago

"Why is the related group Gay Gamers?"

Well that confirms my suspicion about the bee outfit then.

Btw, how hawt is the Japanese chick on the left on the gameplay footage (where it's two girls playing)? Very hawt. That's how hawt.
  • JonFE #7 4 years ago

There's no confirmation that that's a queen bee, though...

    Jealous 360 owners probably..

No doubt jealous as they've completed their "best" game in less than a day and are now bored.

Regardless of which, whoever did it is probably a child who still thinks that "gay" is a degogratory name to call someone

Shame you can't actually watch it on the Wii. Jihad on Flash 9.
  • Pob #18 4 years ago

    Absolutely fantastic!
  • ghearoid #19 4 years ago

um, it's related to the Gay Gamers group because it's just about the gayest game you could ever get. Mario in a bee costume! Plus the G A Y boxart of course

and it's not Gay as in rubbish, it's Gay as in a bunch of bummers

    \o/

  • Shinji #20 4 years ago

Christ - have we not got past the playground "lol GAY!!!!111" nonsense yet? It's related to that group because a fair few people in there have expressed an interest in the game - nothing more, nothing less.

If that's a problem for you, I suggest that your next gaming purchases should be An Education and A Social Life. I hear they're both better than Halo :)

    >"Why is the related group Gay Gamers?"

    "Jealous 360 owners probably.. "

No, it's because gay boys like Mario and the Wii (as Shinji just said).

Christ - have we not got past the playground "lol GAY!!!!111" nonsense yet?

It's half-term, I imagine many here literally haven't got past the playground.

WILL everyone STOP insulting Mario Sunshine?! It was a joyous, jubilant, perfect romp through a land made from utter ridiculousness. You people gave it a 9 for cryin' out loud! Where does "disappointment" come into it?

/adds "people who unnecessarily diss mario sunshine" near top of gaming pet peeves list.
  • dk_rare #24 4 years ago

Gays have always been the trend setters of the world ^_^ Bet you anything that Mario Galaxy is going to be one big trend too. As the editor of Playboy realized when he saw issue number 1 before it went to press "We will sell millions!".
  • aldo_14 #25 4 years ago

Isn't homophobia considered a sign of latent homosexuality, anyways?
  • Kryon #26 4 years ago

"Isn't homophobia considered a sign of latent homosexuality, anyways?"

Nah, that's just what gay people say as a sort of defence mechanism.
  • Lemming81 #27 4 years ago

I second the 'stop bashing Mario sunshine'. It was disappointing compared to other Mario games only. As a game in it's own right it still wiped the floor with just about anything else that was around at the time.

Also, the parts without the water gun were the most challenging Mario 'platforming' levels I've ever had to endure.

Maybe that's why people didn't like it? It was certainly the hardest Mario I've ever played. Mario 3, Mario World and Mario 64 were all a cake walk.
