EGTV captures Forza 2

Demands performance.

Eurogamer TV is hosting two exclusive in-game trailers for Forza 2 this afternoon, captured by our very own cameraman.

It's he who puts the pedals to the metal, desperately trying to achieve a good time, and actually does a respectable job of it.

The in-game footage follows a whole bonanza of Forza 2 activity on Eurogamer, complementing our first impressions and an interview with Dan Greenawalt, the director of the title.

It's all shaping up really rather well, too, prompting a 9/10 from our German pals on Eurogamer.de.

Go and see for yourself on Eurogamer TV.

good grief i can never understand why people play these games via the chase cam. THE ONLY WAY TO HONOUR A GAME LIKE THIS IS IN BONNET VIEW.
    OK?

  • souljacker2000 #2 5 years ago

    Not at all
I love the look of the rear of some cars, just like a nice cute womans arse, gota b seen from behind
  • andromeda #3 5 years ago

kind of agree with the bottom statement, but the game becomes a completely different beast when played from the bonnet. Chase cam also kills the sense of speed by half.
  • EmiliasHorse #4 5 years ago

In car or bonnet view is the only way for a true racing game...But GTA, Crackdown, Burnout etc are far better suited to the chase cam.
  • Der_tolle_Emil #5 5 years ago

I played my first couple of races in chase cam too - I was sucked in and forgot to change my view :/
  • Escher #6 5 years ago

All the actual racing was done in car cam but in the interest of making the clips a bit more interesting and seeing the game at different angles we varied it up a bit
  • souljacker2000 #7 5 years ago

    I agree ...
The sense of speed is huge in bonnet or in car cam... still i love bottoms (female)
  • #8 5 years ago

Yep, it's the sense of speed that's a real winner.
  • pixelherder #9 5 years ago

shame its the most highcontrast/dark racing game ever. Unless you want it to look like sin city :(
  • MikeP #10 5 years ago

Always find bonnet cam harder to drive quickly. As you're not physically in the car you need more visual cues to figure out when you're under/over steering.

Windshield view in MotoGP's best for this, tilting at 45 degrees through corners.
  • Overlush #11 5 years ago

What - no in car view? How last gen...
  • quantumsheep #12 5 years ago

I just couldn't get on with the first game, but thought I'd try the demo and even that didn't inspire me.

Not *too* unexpected though as I far prefer my arcade racers to all this sim stuff ;)
  • sharpfish #13 5 years ago

I hope your 'camera man' has his anti jaggy and contrast compensation functions turned on ;)

Oh and I agree about chase views. You do NOT drive in real life by sitting on the boot (trunk) (or following in a helicopter) and can't judge apex/strips correctly NOR do you get the full sense of speed. Last time I checked only women and newbs played in chase view* ;)

That said, I'd take PGR's in car view over ANY of forza's cameras any day!

    *Highly Flammable but true! :)

so when do get a full revew?
  • LeSpank #15 5 years ago

I was a bit confused by the description of the 2nd video. It said something about your cameraman driving a blue Impreza but then showed a video of a Jaguar.

Anyway, I'm not impressed by your driving skills! But I am impressed by the game and will definitely be purchasing it when it's released.

    P.S. Turn the assists off.

But you also don't drive a car glued to the front of the bonnet. Chase cam all the way - I've earned those cars, I want to see them.

"THE ONLY WAY TO HONOUR A GAME LIKE THIS IS IN BONNET VIEW. "

    exactly my feelings

"But you also don't drive a car glued to the front of the bonnet. Chase cam all the way"

lol, do you drive cars from a glider tied on the back?
  • #19 5 years ago

You're not driving a car, you're playing a game, folk can use whatever bloody view they bloody well want :)
  • sharpfish #20 5 years ago

no, it's true you don't drive a car glued to the bonnet. However when you ARE actually driving you are zoned in on the road ahead of the bonnet, this is what you see (you do NOT see the cockpit and you certainly don't see the boot or rear number plate).

The most instinctive view for anyone who's been driving for a while is a bonnet/bumper cam because it's the closest to actual driving while maximising environment size on screen.

It's all about "feel", so many people think simulation is about copying the real world 100% when it's flawed to think that way as we play via 2D screens on a small "portal". Feeling/instinct is where the forward cams work well. Chase cames look 'cool' and show off the car (and are easier for people who can't get an instinctive feel for the car) but for those of us who "know better" we realise it's like driving a shopping trolley in that view and it does suck big time.

And a lot of games change the FOV when in chase cam making cars look skinny and it just looks wrong, those who've never raced in a real car would enjoy it's feel though I suppose, they do miss out on being able to judge apexes and overtaking more naturally if they use an abstract chase cam.

    Spot on assesment.

I started playign these type of console sim racers back on Grand Tourismo, for about almost all that time i played via, helicopter chase cam view. I have however receently got into bummper cams and can say that not only does it make these types of game feel faster but you actually do get a better feeling of what is going on to the car. I always had the opposite view, that if i could actually see the back of the car gettign out of shape it would be easier, but with modern racers the feedback via rumble (on 360 at least) is so good that you feel the back end break away before you loose traction, allowing you time to back off.

Really all those who play from above behind view, give a modern racer liek forza 1 or 2 a chance via bumper cam, say 4 races, then go back to you old view, you wont be able to.

"I shouldn't be letting this thread bother me, but the blinkered arrogance of some people is truly remarkable"

We do it on the offchance you may read it, to wind you up and see you throw your toys out your pram. Just like you did in the Forz2 Demo thread when you couldn't accept that others had a different opinion/preference to you without you posting seemingly attacking/harsh/stroppy posts.

Some have a preference for bonnet/bumper cam and other's don't. Chase cam is still the most removed from the instinctive, easier to judge reality of being in a fast moving vehicle, and as for "watching footage of an empty track" I don't watch games I play them, I become immersed in them. The track isn't empty anyway, there are other cars around (until you gain the lead).

Of course I can understand about cars nudging you from behind but that's why rear view mirrors are included in games and real life, In forza it may be a problem because it's so unforgiving, but that isn't due to which camera you use it's due to dodgy A.I or unfair gameplay tuning, you should never be penalised for using in car/bumper cams and if you are then the game is BS.

WHY IS THIS GAME NOT HAVING A COCKPIT CAM?!
  • andromeda #26 5 years ago

    @ MMuk

sorry mate dont have forza 1 , always been mroe of a ToCA man myself. But would love a race or two when this game ships!
  • BeersOfWar #27 5 years ago

BONNET CAM + CLEAR HUD + WIRELESS WHEEL = SEXY TIME!
  • cyber_nicco #28 5 years ago

Aha! MMUK, you sly devil, I should have known you were using something such as the chase cam when you were beating me on Sunday. You cheat! It's like you had a helicopter flying behind you radioing you my every move as seen from above.

    Bastard!

    ;)

It would be nice if you could make your graphics in Photoshop and then import them to the 360. Quite a bit easier than doing it with the Xbox controller.
