EGTV: Assassin's Creed

Holy Jerusalem!

Ubisoft has released a new trailer for Assassin's Creed, which is now lurking ominously over on Eurogamer TV.

It shows more footage from the upcoming third-person murder-'em-up that follows protagonist Altair as he leaps across rooftops and takes on soldiers occupying the Holy Land. The next-generation is all free-running and crowd physics, it seems, and we're fine with that.

Assassin's Creed takes place during 1191 AD, when the Third Crusade was tearing the Holy Land apart. You play as Altair, a disgraced member of the Assassin Order, who must redeem himself by eliminating key figures exploiting and exacerbating the chaos caused by all of the fighting.

But soon you'll start to discover that your targets share more than these common bonds, and belong to a secret society known all too well by the Assassins.

And Actress Kristen Bell, who appears in the game, took this notion one further - spilling the beans to IGN that the hidden plotline revolved around a mad brain game perpetrated by a group of scientists.

We've got no idea what's going on, and the most we've seen of the game came from last year's X06 event, where producer Jade Raymond ran the conference crowd through an on-stage demo.

We expect it will be one of the pin-ups at the Ubisoft event in Paris, though, so look out for our impressions as soon as its humanly possible for Tom to produce them.
