EGTV: Assassin's Creed
Holy Jerusalem!
Ubisoft has released a new trailer for Assassin's Creed, which is now lurking ominously over on Eurogamer TV.
It shows more footage from the upcoming third-person murder-'em-up that follows protagonist Altair as he leaps across rooftops and takes on soldiers occupying the Holy Land. The next-generation is all free-running and crowd physics, it seems, and we're fine with that.
Assassin's Creed takes place during 1191 AD, when the Third Crusade was tearing the Holy Land apart. You play as Altair, a disgraced member of the Assassin Order, who must redeem himself by eliminating key figures exploiting and exacerbating the chaos caused by all of the fighting.
But soon you'll start to discover that your targets share more than these common bonds, and belong to a secret society known all too well by the Assassins.
And Actress Kristen Bell, who appears in the game, took this notion one further - spilling the beans to IGN that the hidden plotline revolved around a mad brain game perpetrated by a group of scientists.
We've got no idea what's going on, and the most we've seen of the game came from last year's X06 event, where producer Jade Raymond ran the conference crowd through an on-stage demo.
We expect it will be one of the pin-ups at the Ubisoft event in Paris, though, so look out for our impressions as soon as its humanly possible for Tom to produce them.

Um, on which system? The PC version(s) were ultra-responsive, as was the PS2 demo (iirc).

So I'm naturally gutted to find the information in this here article. If you're going to spoil it, EG, you might as well not link to the article.

some of us (as in me) weren't planning to join in the commenting, until EG decided to crock it up for me and others.
I wonder if they intentionally did it. I mean, it's bloody common sense that some people don't want spoilers.

I haven't really looked forward to a game fdor quite some time, but this is definitely that game.
My hopes are meagre. Fruit_Salad was pretty close, but my suggested mix would be Hitman + Thief 2 + PoP SoT (I love Crackdown, but I think this would benefit from a calmer pace).
I hope its the sort of game you can play without having to resort to swordplay too often. I was pretty religious when playing Thief 2 about not getting detected. I never even bothered with health potions as if I had to use one it meant I'd f*cked up (I tend to play Hitman that way too, and never bother with the body armour or adrenaline, as it happens).
Looks like it has the potential to cater for players like me and also those who like to knock heads together. Plus open sky environments and lots of climbing on rooftops is always fun.
Please don't stuff it up Ubi. The potential of this game has turned me into a kid again, which means I might cry if it sucks.
P.s. Tomb Raider had mad jumps like the last one in the vid. Doesn't mean its false. It might mean you would die if you just dived onto the ground though. Plus, I also thought the song was a bit of a mismatch (even though its a very nice tune).

Lesson 1.
A twist is only good, if its not shit.
Lesson ends.

Fair enough mate. I can see your point. But unless you'd observed a media blackout on this game the chances were always quite high that you would be unfortunate enough to come across this spoiler at some stage or other before the game was released; it is a fairly major revelation and it did receive a good bit of coverage when it was first revealed.

There is no way that the game was going to come out without a big hint about what the setup was actually like. Hell, every trailer they've done has had the graphical "glitches" that got everyone talking in the first place! This one even has some sort of (probably made up) diagram of a chemical compound in it.
I think they're probably doing it to get some word-of-mouth or "viral" marketing going, i.e. they want people to know about it.

Sorry, when my phone browser refreshed it re-posted.
Bring on September 1.

Maybe so. But the spread of the spoiler has died down since. I've avoided it for all this time, I'm sure I could have done so till autumn
Either way, EG messed up.
