Burn Zombie Burn Reader Review

Zombie games are awesome. Fact. You could play any game with zombies in it, and continue playing it for months on end. There are the high budget games like Left4Dead and Resident Evil and you have the lower budget games like this and Zombie Apocalypse. But this certain game is something very special indeed.

First off you can either jump the main character Bruce straight into the game or choose to do the tutorial. I accidentally jumped straight into the game and made myself learn all of the controls and stuff. I then went back to the tutorial later on in the game to learn all of the stuff that I didn't know how to do. Oh and to get the trophy. The game-play in itself is manic. You can have up to about 100 zombies on screen at once when you get onto the later rounds. One of the main aims of the game is set the zombies on fire with your torch (Because it gives you more points) or use more inventive ways of setting them on fire in later rounds. The 8 or something weapons are all useful in their own ways. Like the sub-machine gun would easily get you out of a situation of being backed into a corner by tons of zombies. Not only are there different types of guns, there are also different types of zombies! You have ones that are like a bog-standard zombie, to ones that run at you with green helmets and ones that have shields! Also there is a certain horribly annoying zombie that seems impossible to defeat. Not to mention the 6 levels with 3 different playable modes this game is packed to the brim with re-playable value.

The graphics for the game are luscious and colourful and every time you blow off a zombies head its pleasing to see the red splatter all on the floor behind it. You even get a trophy for getting half of the level covered in the bloody mess. The levels are well designed and look brilliant with each needing a different strategy to survive. Bruce looks spiffing with his abnormally long black quiff that rivals that of Elvis. Also his brother (who is played within Co-op)looks just as good but with a blonde quiff and a beard. Each zombie looks great as well with their different types of outfits.

The soundtrack of the game is also great, with its fusion of Rock and a spooky sounds. The zombies sound scary - though their appearance doesn't make them look scary. The sounds that the weapons make are good and make you feel like you are actually killing a zombie. From a shotgun sound to a chainsaw (yes I forgot to mention the melee weapons) make you almost feel sorry for the poor zombies. But you quickly forget that and continue the killing spree.

There are some faults in the game though. The automatic weapons run out of ammo really quickly, and the melee weapons like the baseball bat and cricket bat are useless. Also, some of the zombies like the exploders will knock huge amounts of health off you even if your standing a good distance away.

All in all though this game will keep you occupied for days, weeks and maybe months if you get into it that much. The tons of unlockables and ridiculously hard-to-get trophies will make you push yourself to the limits to get them all. Not to mention the confirmed downloadable levels of Burn Zombie Burn In Space that is meant to come out later in the year. Honestly, buy this game now!
