Gran Turismo 4 Reader Review
The Gran Turismo series has always been known for pumping out awesome graphics compared to the hardware it's developed for. Gran Turismo 4 is no exception. A quick glance at it, and you'll swear it's an Xbox game. However, if you look closer, you'll find that it even surpasses most Xbox games visually.
You can have all sorts of pretty cars and lush environments to race in, but what it all comes down to is whether the game is actually fun to play. Trust me, it is. While it may seem slow at the beginning, it gets overwhelmingly fun soon. So fun, in fact, that it's more than enough to turn some casual gamers into car enthusiasts! And there is a lot of fun in this game, as it is so massive. Even getting a mere quarter of it completed could take months, even if you were playing 2-4 hours each day. And you'll enjoy every last minute of that time, too.
Gran Turismo 4 isn't without flaws, though. The removal of the ability to attempt to qualify for a race is quite odd, and sometimes makes me want to play Gran Turismo 3 instead. Also, the arcade mode has become nothing more than a way for you to either JUST drive or JUST race. No longer can you unlock stuff by completing races in arcade mode.
But all in all, Gran Turismo 4 is the new leader of racing games. It is truly a masterpiece that will not be surpassed any time soon.
