Halo 3 Reader Review

I am sure you have all read other reviews that will tell you about the game play, the story or the online multi-player. While I may add to those reviews a little, enough has been written that my ink drop in the ocean will count for very little.

So here goes anyway.

After all the hype and expectations it's often hard to judge a game with a clear perspective, especially directly after it comes out.

Now it's been some time and I feel I can judge it for what it really is. A well polished game that does all the things right that both 1 and 2 did. But one that ultimate adds only minor improvements and the end of the story.

For me and many of us the multi player aspect of Halo is what we have come to love. Halo 2 has for many, been the only online game worth playing for ages. The innovations of halo 2 that came as an initial shock, but then a welcome addition. Unseen Games hosting and matching players of equal skill. I was expecting Halo 3 hake some new huge leap and deliver something epic. However I'm left feeling a little disappointed. The main disappointment is that many of the Halo 3 maps are almost identical to old halo 2 maps and the game play left almost unchanged. I know the old adage "if it ain't broke don't fix it". But that also goes hand in hand with "if the new ones the same as the old one why bother?"

So what do we really get with Halo 3. The continuation for the story and a few extras, but it really just feels like a large patch and not a sequel.

That said of course it is still a good game, you can read about all the great stuff in all the other reviews. However I personally don't give it the 10/10 that most review appear to award it. I waver between 7 and 8. 7 if you have halo 2 and 8 if you don't.

7 / 10
