Wii Sports Reader Review
Yes, unwrapped my Wii and smelt that linger of fresh hardware. Plugged it all up, stroked my remote like a loon and inserted the very first Wii game to ever grace my screen.
First impressions then, graphics are poor and the music is annoying. Not exactly a good start. The presentation is well set out and the remote works reasonably well, accurate, smooth and clean. The game builds on you, in other words. Like a mountain of tetris it's like a fixation, once you do your first daily fitness test (much like Brain Training but a lot more physical and, well, you play sports) you know your going to be enticed again and again. The sports are limited but fun nonetheless. Single games can be a bit dismissive at times and be cut short. Im looking at you, Boxing. Some games can drag on to long. Im looking at YOU Baseball. Others are just perfect (Tennis,Bowling). In all, it's a neat little package and as your first step into the Wii gaming world it's safe and indeed satisfying.
To a degree, the game is a little bland. The colours are bold and the fluent controls of the arguably innovative remote are suprisingly successful. All this is good, however, it really isn't a GAME as such. It's more like a warm up session before you divulge into the worlds of Zelda and Red Steel. For a free game, it's a really nice gift from Nintendo. If you judging this as a stand alone game, there are far better Wii games out there to be playing.
This IS free though, so everyone WILL have this game. If only it was online ...
