Prey Reader Review

One thing lacking from the reviews of the game it seems the reviewers not playing it right through and are unable to say if the game has re-play value.

At first it seems ok, the character models are very shiny and plastic like. It seems it's a major fault of the doom 3 engine. It tries to set it self apart from other FPS but the gravity puzzles are very easy. The game becomes very easy because of how you return to life after you die and it's even worse on the hardest skill as you get no health pick-ups. This means you keep having to do the shooting game to re-spawn and then you die again because the enemy does a lot more damage.

Prey does not take long to complete and offers very little re-play value. As I mentioned above, the hard skill level becomes a chore and the unlockable artwork gallery is very dull.

I tried multiplayer over Live and it was very poor, the lag made it unplayabe. At first I thought it was just my connection but other UK gamers had the some problems. At the minute there is no patch to fix it. I've heard there is a patch to add downloadable content, maybe they should of fixed the lag problem before they sell new models and maps.

If the game was about £20, I wouldn't be so harsh on the final score but £40+ for a game that does not last more than a weekend is very poor. i would say rental only.
