Donkey Kong Country 3 Reader Review
As many of you may know, Donkey Kong Country 3 is the last in the Donkey Kong Country series. In November 2005, the game from the SNES was brought to the Game Boy Advance - with some changes.
I remember the first levels easy seeing as I played this game quite a few times on the SNES. They are basically the same so I'm pleased there. However, the minigames have changed. I prefer the ones in the original version but it's not too much of a letdown. Just like the other two games you'll be using your two Kongs to get through each level. As with Donkey Kong games these can become quite challenging at times. You'll need to get the timing right and have patience. This is one of those games that can get really frustrating when you have to start over because you have killed your two Kongs. Well, I guess it's a good game for those up to a challenge.
Graphics are probably the best thing about this game. Each level looks like a lot of effort has been put into it. The water in the background and the water you swim in has a good rippling effect. The backdrops are definitely looking their best just like any other Donkey Kong Country game.
You still have all the funny enemy noises and background sounds in this game. So, as you bash those enemies you'll know you have the power from the sounds. One thing that is disappointing is the music. It's changed. This probably won't be a big deal to those who have never played this on the SNES but for me it is. It isn't too bad and some tracks are actually composed well but it doesn't beat the original game's soundtrack. That was much better than this.
Surprisingly I haven't played this game as much as the other games in the series. It just doesn't do too good gameplay wise for me. Donkey Kong Country I can play over and over again but this game doesn't do it. Donkey Kong Country 2 probably has the best levels and so I can play that again. There isn't nothing too special in the last game which is a bit of a shame. If you want a Donkey Kong game I suggest any of the other two for more hours of gameplay.
Despite the bad gameplay the game is visually a beautiful game and deserves some credit for some of its new features.
