There won't be a Zelda review tomorrow. That's for next week. Wii Sports tomorrow.

Sorry!

Sounds good. I have a question for EG (or anyone who knows) though: Is the PC version going to be the same game or is it going to be very different, like GRAW's PC version? Hoping it's the same.

The PC version of Vegas will be totally different, yes - and not out until the 15th December, either.

I take it that you guys have been having some 4 player seshes, right? That's the only way to do a fair review of this game, after all!

I love the Las Eurogamer banner. Keep it!

Kristan, your scores might be arguable some times, but your reviews are the most informative online and always nice to read. Keep the good work up!

:( sad panda.

will you do a seperate review? I won't know if it's any good without EG ;)

man, really disappointed that Ubisoft is not bringing the same game to the PC. Just like GRAW - I don't like the PC versions' slower, more tactical pacing at all. I did like Raven Shield though.

Will do a separate review, yes. By then the new release list will be fairly slim, so I don't see why not.

I got this game this morning but haven't had the chance to try it yet but I'm looking forward to playing it as I enjoyed both demos.

One thing I have heard is that the final game has v-sync tearing issues which weren't in the single or multiplayer demos I played. It looks like the developers fixed the shaky framerate of the single player demo by turning off v-sync which is more than a little disappointing for me.

Why do so many Xbox 360 games have v-sync issues when the hardware is supposed to be, like, 11-13X more powerful than the Xbox (according to Microsoft)? I mean Rainbow Six Vegas looks nice but squint a bit and it would almost pass for a hi-def Xbox Rainbow Six game really as the textures aren't all that impressive and there are lots of jaggy edges. :?

The so-called V-sync issues weren't an issue at all. Not on my TV anyway. I noticed it for all of about 3 seconds at the start of the game and didn't see it again from then on. It's not Saints Row, put it that way.

What was wrong with Edge this month, anyway? Vegas getting a 6, fawning PS3 supplement full of highly suspect conclusions...
[/Quote]

I agree. This months was a complete fanboy fest about the PS3. It's as if they ignored everything online report about the machine completely.

Good review from EG and GS. So definitely picking up tomorrow.

Did they fix the frame rate at all in offline mode? It was absolutely shocking in the demo, and they did even mention something about working on it on the official forums.

The MP graphics are fine - move quick, stuff is more visible than offline - that's the important bases covered.

I found the maps designed for multi player looked a bit dicey, but the game play is so good, that you completely forget about it. The look and way the game play works in the attack + defend reminded me of Counterstrike, which for me is a good thing. Excellent game from the few hours I've played.

well. i received mine yesterday from play-asia , so whipped it in the 360 as soon as i could, and i have to say i've been mighty impressed, only played the mexican bit of the story mdoe so far, so just got to the casino bits, but i nended up playing on multiplayer (in between a chromehounds session )
very strange though too see my mug in the multiplayer mode with the live vision camera thing.

some of thrgraphics in the multiplayer ddnt look as good as they could have but the gameplay is still great. i can see me playing this for a while, and not touching GoW which hasnt really "done it" for me, though i've had some good fun on COD3 but i'm sure i'll get back to them at some point. :)

I'm a little embarrassed for not beeing able to enjoy Tom Clancy stuff, I'm too political to enjoy the guy. I know I'm missing a few great titles, but what the heck I think I'd feel even more embarrassed if my girlfriend (as she usual does) sit by my side and asked me what was the plot of the game and what I was trying to accomplish.
Anyway, it's kinda stupid, but it's just the way it is.

I guess I could be the only one who liked the old health system, I like no health packs / quick deaths, its frustrating for sure, but I loved that feeling when I'd get half way through a level, take a bullet, my character would then breathe really badly and I'd feel the tension mounting with every passing gun fight knowing I was closer to the end, and so close to death. I think the hard difficulty should feature the traditional health system, that would really differentiate the two. the same goes for team mate revival.
I always played the old ones in co-op so I am really pleased that is untouched I was dissapointed by the fact that in GR you couldnt play the single player story through via LAN...
I have Rainbow sat on my desk and viva pinata, too many games!

And I thought Tiger Woods was terrible by the way. (ugly, weird controls, odd game structure, still not as good as links! why would wearing different socks give you better driving distance? + its just a bit random, you never know where the ball is going to land, the game makes a random dice roll and lands the ball somewhere with in an area, surely it should be based on how close to the perfect swing I am? oh and the super random ball bounces can be fairly frustrating)

"Just like GRAW - I don't like the PC versions' slower, more tactical pacing at all"

I think they were catering more for fans of the original GR games. I personally didn't quite get on with GRAW on the 360. Too many little niggling control issues plus some occasional poor level design spoiled it for me (unlike the multiplayer game, which was a far better engine IMO, if admittedly not as pretty GFX wise).

A friend of mine who also didn't really like GRAW on 360 loved the PC version. No accounting for taste I guess :)

we'd argue that 'flash and clear' should be in there too

Isn't this one of the options when you have your team in stealth mode? I'm sure it was in the demo.

Yeah, they explain it during the Mexico level. It's really important to order your guys into stealth mode, because they won't shoot at the terrorists unless it's in self-defense. So, you can prepare your positions without alerting the enemy. Loved the game, really did, glad to see R6 back to form

What little comments there have been from ubi regarding the PC version, they have said that its a direct port of the 360 version with menu and control changes. Given the 360 version is a Unreal Engine 3 game, i suspect it was easier to do the straight port.

However its a SM3 game, so XT1xxx and nvidia 6XXX and above required...

Well if they have the right mouse button to toggle the cover mode, you could use the wasd keys to pop out of cover in the direction you want and still have mouse for aiming.

Nice revew and great to see a reviewer take the time to answer so many questions. I also like the 8/10's being given for these games lately because in 12 months time and beyond the better games will have some room to score higher when they learn things like using the 3 cores etc and getting to the limits of the console/s. I may be alone thinking this but i consider a 6/10 a good review if i'm interested in the games theme/past games and just hearing the studio making r6 vegas was responsible for R6 3 and Black Arrow will make me get it when i got a few spare notes in my pcket

Ahhh Edge, that last issue was an absolute joke wasn't it?I mean most of you seem to take the piss a bit out of EG's writers saying that they're slightly Bias in favour of Sony.(Although from their PS3 launch game reviews I think that theory has been pretty much debunked)
But that last Edge magazine right from the off couldn't have been licking Sony's ringpiece anymore, from what I could gather sadly us 360 owners are now owning a last gen machine in regards to both looks and specs when compared to the PS3 and Wii,and the PS3 IS the friggin future of gaming!!
Terrible multi-format magazine,I only read it because it's free to do so in work.
