EG Expo 2009 London queue heroes

Thousands stampede in. Tickets on sale.

The last and biggest day of the Eurogamer Expo 2009 is underway in London, with 2175 visitors stampeding past reception in the first hour this morning.

Jonathan and Alex and Mystery Man, pleased as punch.

Johnathan Salisbury, 26, from London, was first in line, and had been since 5am. He arrived just 10 minutes before Alex Hamlin, 21, from France but living in London. The pair had been "talking about games" for six hours, they told us.

For their outrageous punctuality they were each awarded a copy of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, as was a third, mysterious queuer. The queue was also subjected to a bout of shouting, as were the Leeds EG Expo 2009 attendees. London, we have to say, was louder. Well done!

Tickets are on sale on the door for £6 apiece. Check out our London Eurogamer Expo 2009 gallery for shots of the bulging queue and the lucky visitors first in the door.

    My bet is, the one on the far left is thinking "If only i had a PS3 on which to play this"

    @ Lunnyt00n: Well I've got to tell you lunnyt00n I am the guy on the far left and that is exactly what I was thinking. Shame it came across in the photo, makes me look a right ungreatful bastard but ah well, can't be helped.

    @persus-9,

    Are you sure you weren't thinking, "Where the fuck is my PSPGo?" ;)

    Nice of EuroGamer to tell us tickets were on sale at the entrance. I could have brought a lot more people with me.
    @ persus-9 what time did you arrive, congrats on the game BTW?

    I arrived pretty much dead on 5am, Alex around 5:15 and then a large group of people about three hours later.

    Joking and odd looks in photographs aside I am actually really chuffed to get a copy of Uncharted 2 because although I don't own a PS3 at the moment I'd be lying if I said I hadn't been after one and sort of planning to buy one and a copy of Uncharted 2 (and a few other essentials) in the next few months so although at the moment it is just a bookend I doubt my copy of Uncharted 2 will stay shrink wrapped for long ;)

    In contrast as I've no plans to buy a PSPGo at all. Also if I'd got something really expensive PSPGo and Alex hadn't got anything I'd have felt the need to give him some cash towards a consolation prize since he was just a gentleman about turning up a 5:15 in the morning to find me already sitting there. So yeah, I think copies of Uncharted 2 for the first three people is a very good prize all things considered.

    @persus-9: Good to see your loyalty of turning up so early rewarded, and like you say when you get round to getting a PS3, it's an added bonus that you have Uncharted 2 ready to go from the get go.
