Effects pedal for Guitar Hero?

Port found on 360 controller.

The Xbox 360 Guitar Hero controller - based on the Gibson Explorer - features an as-yet unused port designer for use with an effects pedal peripheral.

But don't take our word for it - feast your doubting eyes on photos of the instruction booklet for the US Guitar Hero II on Xbox 360, which confirms it.

Whether the effects pedal will be released to work with Guitar Hero II in future seems unlikely (the manual says "Feature currently unavailable"), but there's obviously some future-proofing action going on there, and it certainly speaks positively to RedOctane's intention of continuing the series on the Microsoft platform.

Mother-company Activision was unavailable for comment at the time of writing.

Guitar Hero II is due out for Xbox 360 this Friday, 6th April. If you want to see the pedal port for yourself, why not enter our competition and win the guitar along with game and Xbox 360 console? We would. But we can't, obviously.

    I'd get it if it wasn't £70.

I reckon the X-Plorer will be used with Rock Band, and the effects pedal will be a function of THAT game, not Guitar Hero... so in effect Harmonix are future-proofing their peripherals :-)

I'd just like to add that this is really old news, i first heard about these ports at least 2 weeks ago, i'm not having a go as i love the eurogamer news page, but just saying it's pretty much out of date.

If someone would explain to me why it costs £70 when its the exact same game as the PS2 version except it as 10 new tracks on, then I'll get it. Absolutly gutted its over priced because I really wanted it as well!

What is it about playing More Than A Feeling that just feels so god damned awesome?!

It's one of my greatest ever gaming moments.

edit - Mr Brown, it's £20 more because a) it has the 10 songs you mentioned, b) it will have a heap of downloadable content, and c) it's a 'next-gen' title and like it or not, you pay more for those. Just like Hitman was more expensive on 360 than PS2. Or all the other games that come out ever.
