Echochrome team explains DLC News

PlayStation 3 PSP News by Robert Purchese

6 May, 2008

Echochrome producer Kumi Yuasa has promised that user-created puzzles will be available to download for free on a regular basis.

The developers will hand-pick each batch, and they will be playable for as long as it takes the team to select and release a subsequent compilation.

To have your creation included, simply select "Canvas" from the main menu and tinker until you can play and complete your puzzle.

Once finished, pop to the portfolio menu and either "send" it to a friend or "upload" it to the developers. In the PSP version you can only "send" your levels Ad Hoc to friends.

Echochrome, sadly, is yet to be released in Europe, although the US has had it since 1st May and Japan since 19th March.

However, we've given it a thorough seeing to, and you can expect our thoughts on it this week.

Echochrome breaks my brain, but in a good way. User-created levels sound good.

Played the demo and really enjoyed it's idiosycratic design. Got a good review in Edge so will be picking up.

Love it, hate it in equal amounts, one minute I'm absolutly stuck and can't work out what to do, then suddenly a revelation and it's all suddenly so simple.

Top work Sony, one of the best puzzle games and most original titles I've played in yonks

Bring on multi player death match.

After the demo I was worried that once you'd played it through there'd be no motive to go back to it, but if there are cherry picked new levels for free on a regular basis, that's going to seal the deal. It's amazing how often the gaming community surpasses anything the games designers thought of when given the tools to make their own stuff.

"you can expect our thoughts on it this week"

Does that mean it's coming out soon?

Your "thoughts" could mean a review, in which case, means it will be out very soon. Normally, games rags don't do a review until it's near or just after the game comes out.

Whilst this is "sort of" news, it's not really big news as there are already examples of this in the Japanese game.
