Echochrome adds Trophies, 1000 levels News

PlayStation 3 News by Robert Purchese

12 December, 2008

Sony has rolled out an Echochrome update, adding Trophies to the PSN puzzler.

More impressive, however, are the 1000 extra user-generated levels on offer. And, given that the original game launched with 56 stages, that number is rather spectacular.

"The total count for stage uploads worldwide have now exceeded 3,700 (submitted from 33 different countries and 1664 unique users)," Suzuki-san, producer of Echochrome, told the US PlayStation blog.

"We have done the honours of selecting a total of 1,000 user generated stages to be made available with this update patch, to everyone else. The stages are the crystals of our users' creativity and variety, often surprising us and sometimes even an eye-opener from a development point of view."

The blog also tells us another echochrome update is on the way, although we cannot know when or what "interesting features" are inside just yet.

Echochrome, the Escher-inspired perspective puzzler, can be snatched from the PlayStation Store for GBP 6.99.

Head over to our Echochrome review to see what we thought.

Come on EG get on to SCEE and found out where these patches are, the guys at blue point said they submitted the blast factor patch the same time as the US one.

@GamesProgrammer

The SCEE process does take about a week longer apparently but I think we still should've seen it by now.

So which patches are we waiting on?
Echochrome, Age for Booty, and Blast Factor trophy patches isn't it.

EG have a word.

"Pssst, Sony"
"Oh Hello EG, how's the articles going?"
"Good thanks. We had over 15 yesterday"
"Fantastic stuff"
"Ok, so where are those patches for our European Friends?"
"Well, I was working on them and would you believe it, the bloody dog ate them!"
"Aaaahhhh, must be a hungry dog"

Too bad Sony didn't include SCEE in the 16000 employees who got fired - SCEE are completely worthless.

One of the insiders on the blu-ray forum said that some of the delay SCEE side is because they've also been tasked with getting Home out the door and the programming the firmware updates. With Home done apparently that's freeing up 3 teams to do other things now. Maybe some of those will go to QA!

Nah i tried the US account thing you dont get the update, which isnt surprising as the update will be based on the games product code, which will be different depending on the store you got it from .

This is really pissing me off, these patches add to the game significantly, I now no longer want to play Blast Factor as I know it should be rumbling and unlocking trophies and the echochrome patch includes a 1000 level download too! come on SCEE whats the hold up? at least tell us when to expect the patches, give threespeech some work to do for a change! or give us a blog....
oh its all the old complaints may as well piss in the wind as moan about SCEE. Looks like they are slipping back into their old lazy ways again! I have not got the energy to complain anymore , getting too old for all this.
IN Fact goodbye SCEE I have honestly had enough of being let down by you, you are really rubbish at your job.

Capcom mentioned it in an article on Kotaku about a month ago. 5-7 days for Microsoft Worldwide and SCEA, SCEE more like 2 weeks because its a more indepth QA process (but with better feedback).
However, I think its not the real excuse anymore. I'm the first to defend SCEE when you get the usual "OMG I'm going to burn my PS3 and drop acid on SCEE! I've got to wait 2 more weeks for a game!" detritus as theres really no need but, for these patches, it is taking longer than I'd expect.

I don't care about excuses, I just want the products. Especially English language versions of the games/patches - find + replace a few spellings, and we're done. But that'd never happen.

With the size of these companies and the available resources, things like this shouldn't be hard to get out of the door.

I don't see why there can't be different release times for different countries though, seeing as everyone has a slightly different store (don't they?) UK should follow shortly after USA, with places like Germany following a bit later if they insist.

I am pissed off! I just bought the game thinking it had trophie support. It didn't cross my mind the SCEE would be this incompetent again. They are useless! They can't even SAY when it might be ready for Europe... Treating their most profitable terittory like shit again.
