EA unveils Celebrity Wii Sports effort

Celebrity Sports Showdown, sorry.

Electronic Arts has unveiled Celebrity Sports Showdown for Wii - part of the publisher's new EA Sports Freestyle brand.

Developed by EA Canada and due out this winter, Celeb SS (probably not the abbreviation they'll use) allows you to play as a mixture of celebrities and sports-people across a range of 12 activities that make use of the Wii and nunchuk's unique controls.

Confirmed slebs are Fergie, Avril Lavigne, LeAnn Rimes, Nelly Furtado and Keith Urban [surely these are "singers" - Ed].

Meanwhile, the world of sport is represented by Paul Pierce (basketball or something), Reggie Bush (American football, possibly), Suger Ray Leonard (punching), Kristi Yamaguchi (figure skating) and Mia Hamm (football!).

As for the games they play, there's Beach Volleyball, Inner-Tubing (Googling that probably isn't safe), Wild Water Canoeing, Hurdle Derby, Slalom Showdown, Cliff Hangers, Smash Badminton, Rapid Fire Archery, Joust Duel, Curling, Arena Dodgeball and Air Racers.
