EA/Starbreeze trademark Syndicate
But what could this mean?
Swedish developer Starbreeze has been spotted trademarking the name Syndicate three times.
EA's name pops-up in one of the filings, suggesting - this time with little shred of doubt - that the codenamed "Project RedLime" collaboration is a re-imagining of Syndicate.
The trademarks can be found on Superannuation.
EA signed Starbreeze Studios (The Chronicles of Riddick, The Darkness) in early 2008 to rework a major franchise for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
Starbreeze had also been tinkering with a Bourne romp for EA, although the project was terminated last month. EA, however, is still "discussing" the possibility of such a game.

"I love Starbreeze. I do wish they were working on a new Darkness game though."
Well 2K have confirmed a Darkness sequel, but haven't named the studio further than saying that it isn't Starbreeze. Apparently it follows directly on from the first one, which should be pretty interesting as it ended pretty conclusively. Which means a new story and new enemies, probably The Angelus if I were to make a prediction.

Anyone remember the intro movie for Syndicate Wars?
"Are you alright sir?"
"Come, let us give unto the cataclysm"
BANG.......BANG BANG
DO IT EA/Starbreeze! If you do you can have the soul of my firstborn.

YEAH! The music that kicks in with the miniguns still makes me headbang like a nutter!
What an excellent intro movie.
Every Starbreeze employee should be forced to watch Bladerunner in the morning before starting work. And they should hire Rutger Hauer to wander around the offices threatening to snap fingers for poor performance.
I REALLY hope they don't balls it all up.

Totally with you on that one, my initial reaction to both articles was a massive wave of nostalgic bliss... that was suddenly halted with a shudder as I realised these may turn out to be utter tripe - I really hope this doesn't turn out to be the case.
As others have commented I'd love updated versions of Magic Carpet and Dungeon Keeper and whilst their at it can't someone resurrect Chaos Engine and GODs?

"The last titles to bear the Bullfrog logo were published in 2001. 2004 met the final end of Bullfrog when Electronic Arts combined their side studios into EA UK. In August 2009, Electronics Arts was considering revising some of Bullfrog's games for modern-day systems"
So those of us looking for Magic Carpet, Dungeon Keeper or Theme Park/Hospital there is some hope.
PS : I think Black & White was a Lionhead production rather than Bullfrog/EA.

Consider me chuffed-to-bits
Ironically I've been playing both The Darkness and Riddick in the last week, and thinking to myself how good a job Starbreeze did.
