EA Sports unleashes FIFA Earth News

PC Xbox 360 PlayStation 3
News by Robert Purchese

16 October, 2009

EA Sports has released its FIFA Earth website to the masses, bombarding us with stats ripped from the PS3 and Xbox 360 game.

So far, for instance, 32 million games have been played. The counter on the website is flying up, but there's a long way to go to reach the two billion games FIFA 09 managed.

The nation playing the "best" FIFA 10 is Oman, surprisingly enough. That's regardless of the team chosen. The UK is at 52 [because you're all f***ing playing as Barcelona and Real Madrid - Ed].

Manchester United tops the popularity ranking, followed by Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Chelsea and Arsenal. The "hottest" club is Jaguares de Chiapas from Mexico.

EA notes that FIFA Earth is still in its infancy, and will expand to cover "infinite possibilities". Right.

Head over to the FIFA Earth website for a browse.

I wish I knew why the EA website insists on sending me to the Portuguese language version.

That's a nicely designed website, but am I right in thinking that it says Fifa10 has been played the most in Oman?

According to Wiki that country has a population of 2.8m, I mean there's two or three times more people than that in London, so surely this must be broken?

The best players are from Oman, not most played.
Never ever could have imagined that LOL

And WTF, Notts County number 22 most popular team?!
Never heard of that, no I am not from Britain.

@ KillerKnight

Notts County are an English 4th division side who've recently been bought by some Arab billionaires, I've not checked but presumably they're a very wealthy team in the game making them a good team to pick for some of the manager mode achievements.

That is, if these stats include manager mode? Otherwise it's just bizarre as they're neither particularly good or particularly well supported.

Ok, I see.
So they are even buying 4th division teams these days?

How do you guys actually think about that? Good thing is of course the enormous amount of cash flowing into English teams, but on the other hand not many teams will be left in English hands.

Who gives a fuck who owns them? As long as they are run properly and dont screw over the fans, then they could be owned by Martians for all I care.

Leeds are 16th :)

Good to see that complete catastrophic failure doesn't necessarily equate to losing all your support.

My Father is a life long County fan, if he palyed Fifa I am sure he woudl chip in and point out that - Notts County hit 150 years old in 2012 and that makes them the longest running professional football team in the world.

From memory the Juventus kit is derived from County's.

County were relegated from Division one in the early nineties and have slipped down the league tables since then.

Q: How many Man United fans does it take to change a light bulb?
A: 560,001. That is 1 to change it, 60,000 to say they've been changing it for years and 500,000 to buy the replica kit.
