It's a shame really. I suspect the reason was that EA didn't want to set up servers in Australia to offer online play and then cut out online play completely so that noone would complain about lag when connecting to US/EU servers.

does anyone know if the Japanese version is online? I have a Japanese Wii and this is released on 14th Feb. Dont want to buy if not online though.

From the review, the online bit sounded quite crap, so our Ozzie cousins should be happy they dun't have to suffer it...
